Same here. The first two weeks was looking for any reason to drive it... wait a minute, after 4 or 5 months I still do that.

My wife drives a a 05 black with all the bells and whistles , she drives 35 miles each way in dallas on one of the busy high ways . She calls her car " fantsy " . She rode beside another 8 black but without the wing, strakes, rotary, and they wave and she gets home and tells me this story about the drive.
Then she has this smile and says I LOOKED AT THIS CAR AND REALIZED I DRIVE A CAR LIKE THAT, AND THAT CAR IS REALLY GOOD LOOKING. LOL

I've had mine for 3 and a half weeks and I'm miserable in the days that I drive my winter beater (96 maxima). They salted the crap out of the roads here in New England because of the sudden drop in the temperature so I haven't driven her in a couple of days. Right now shes in the driveway teasing me because its supposed to snow tonight and I have the stock tires on so theres no way im gonna take her out I'm also going to a party tonight and its gonna suck driving in on a Maxima. I hate winter time in New England!

I felt the same for the first year I had it.

The feeling is still there, but it's been deminished from all the rattles and the chipped paint on the outside. The dealer has "fixed" the driver side door rattle three times now. But there's a similar rattle somewhere on the passenger side. The rear view mirror rattles, and even the gauge pod rattles (It moves slightly forward and back).

None of the rattles appeared until sometime in the second year

^ I've had a similar experience. I loved the car until the first 'issue' popped up, then the second.......third.....fourth. I still love the design of the car......but I am totally unimpressed by " Japanese Quality ". I've had fewer issues with every Ford I've owned

Oh well, it's only a lease....thank god! To think I almost bought this thing.

Don't misunderstand my post. I still love my car, but there have been things that have put a damper on it. Rattles are relatively minor - but they annoy the crap out of me. The engine, transmission, etc. all run great, and I haven't had issue with them.

Chill. Lots of people have had the car a long time and not had any problems.

I'm at 39K and do not have any rattles at all - in fact zero problems to date and I have a Oct 03 delivered car. My only real concern was a notchy second gear, but the Redline fluid seemed to help a little.

I think it depends on where you live. The RX8 has shown to be a great car for those that live in warmer climates. I never had any issues with my 8 over the summer here in Michigan......but as soon as the temp dropped.....so did my opinion of the car Perhaps in a few months as summer returns so might my positive attitude towards the car

Well, my opinion of the 8 didn't change from New England summer to New England winter. I did, of course, put some winter tires on, after reading the fine advice on this site.

It's not uncommon for me to still sit in my 8 just to enjoy being there. I'm still at the point where I drive her on special occasions...and really look forward to those times. I know over time I will drive her more in busy traffic for more mundane things...but right now she' s still so special!

About to celebrate my 18 month anniversary with my baby and I still love every minute of every drive. I think that the minor rattles give it character.

Same experience here. 19,800 miles and it's still like new. I see the posts with people complaining about interior rattles and realize I must just be one of the lucky ones. Every now and then I'll hear a buzz or rattle and think "oh no, there's the first one." Then I poke around and find something rattling in the ashtray or in the bottom of the console.

This was my experience as well. For the last 15k miles the rearview mirror has been buzzing and rattling like crazy. Drives me nuts Other minor rattles come and go so they're tolerable, but the mirror makes noise at least 80% of the time... hopefully the dealership will swap it out and I can drive in sweet silent bliss once again. I've forgotten what the engine sounds like since I must always have the radio on to drown out the rattles.
