Its time I bought a rotary! Autocross/toy
Hi folks, I'm new to this group. I've been kidding my wife about her getting me an engagement RX-7 since we've been married almost 14 years ago. I mean after all I got her that nifty ring... I figure we guys should get something also. The gals get a ring and the guys should get a sports car (or something equally desired!) Well the RX-7 is out of production but not forgotten, but now the RX-8 is here...and it can hold me, the wife, and the two children! What a deal! We've both driven it and she likes it as well. Only a minor disagreement on color, but after all if this is my delayed engagement gift I suppose I'll get my way> Winning Blue Mettalic what a gorgeous color! We'll likely buy after I find a new job to move out of Cali (I"ll save big on Cal taxes and registration). The hard part will be parting with my present project car (Someone in another thread talked about the RX-8 being high maintenance because of the need for frequent oil checks--this doesn't come close to the amount of TLC my '90 G-60 Corrado has required) I'm really looking forward to only three major moving parts! My future RX-8 will be primarily an autocross toy so I hope to limit the weight by limiting the options. Hopefully I'll be able to find such a car...I'd really like to avoid the sunroof to allow for maximum helmet room. Its second purpose will be a spare car in case of a breakdown of my or my wife's car. If anyone has any advice for me on this future acquisition with regards to its use in autocross of otherwise, I'd like to hear what you have to say. Thanks, Rich

The 8 is a great car. Awesome value... great looks, handling, speed and convenience. My only issue with the car is the total lack of low end torque. Small complaint tho. Good luck bro.

Welcome Rich,
I have a Winning Blue car (also without the sunroof). It's good that you thought about the helmet room before you bought. My last three RX-7's all had sunroofs (which I rarely used). Headroom was a problem.
Now, my RX-8 (with the adjustable seat all the way down) has plenty of room for my helmet with about an inch to spare.
It's a great car for Track Days also!
