Intersting news from a fellow Mazda enthusiast(speed3)
So as helping a friend try to find a mazdaspeed3 we stopped by a Nissan dealership which just got a trade in speed3 yesterday..while talking to the saleperson(which is a big mazda enthusiast and has spent alot of time at the local mazda dealership searching for another speed3) he informed me that "mazda is putting the 3 rotor in the 2010 RX8" of course i tried to explain to him that it would almost never happen because of cost, fuel mileage, emissions etc..he claims that mazda is already started on it..
However i cannot see this happening (as much as id like to see it). what do you guys think anybody heard of this or work for mazda heard of this? |
so you think a salesperson at a nissan dealership would hear about something like this before-- me , RG, Brillo, Ash, Mazmart, Bern, Boowanna , Icemark, DrKillJoY the 5 or 6 "known" mazda salespeople/service techs?
|
that's how amazing mazda's PR department is. They go out of their way to inform Nissan sales guys about their upcoming secret projects, while keeping their own people in the dark.
|
Why would you even post such blasphemy here? You know better than that.

actually, i heard they're going to 1-rotor for better fuel economy and lightness, so that owners can just lift the motor out him/herself when it needs servicing or rebuilding. what an idea! |
^HAHA, that would be awesome. BTW 1-rotor has been done already, I think Suzuki made a 1 rotor motorcycle. I agree with Zoom though, someone other than a Nissan salesperson would know more about the goings on at Mazda.

a part of me just died :(

i should ring up Mr. Barnes---
"Hey Jeremy Happy New Year!! Hows that spec Miata doing? Great Great ... Hey the reason I'm calling is that a Nissan dealerships salesperson says he heard that the 8 was getting a 3 rotor for '10. Want to confirm tha.... Jeremy? jeremy...? *dial tone....." |

when i asked you about the info i had on the recall and the building of the motors to support it. you were not sure ;) the master tech that i work with knew about it but looked at me like i had 6 heads, then winked and said wtf! where did you get that stuff.. i guess i need to buy a nissan.. beers  |
oh did i leave you off the list? sorry. and that was a special situation all the clutter was hard to wade thru to get the truth. at least i had the release before the media:)

 btw, you guys were down for practice last weekend??? daytona i did not make it over till monday.. sucked to be a blue honda in st! beers  |
honestly guys, come on.
anyone in the know in the mazda world knows that the 2010 rx8 will include the 9 port 20b-msp renesis engine. come on guys.. i cant believe so many of you are so late on the uptake that even nissan salesmen are beating you to the punch. |
it would be nice if mazda gave the 8 300hp and a sub 5 sec time to compete on paper with the other guys but in the 3D world I still wouldnt trade my 8 for a 350 or stang or any other 05+ w/ low miles/warranty. Im going to test drive a 370 but Ive got a feeling it still crashes over large bumps and sounds like an altima. the syncromatch sounds cool though but I wouldnt buy for a couple years anyway. Still a lack of seats which is why so many Mustangs sell I suppose. The masses will give up handling for 0-60 times with a back seat for thier kiddies.

Trust me i didnt' believe it for a second when i heard but i thought i would give u guys some brain candy to ponder on haha... This guy like alot of salesmen THOUGHT he knew about cars until i started pointing out things that he was explaining about the speed3....for example he said"yeah put a turbo timer on and it will b stupid fast" I reply, you mean boost controller? he said" no turbo timer the guy that owned it before had one" after that i went on to explain the differnces etc etc......
all of this was when i had my Automotive school shirt on that is 3 blocks up the street and he was trying to act like i didn't know!!!haha... but like i said before figured i would just let u guys get a laugh out of this! haha |
I sold my RX8 five mos ago and bought a brand new 08 Speed 3.....still have less than 5k on it. I know I'll probably get flamed for this but I actually enjoy driving my stock speed 3 more than the modded 8 I had. The main reasons are comfort and power....the two things I thought the 8 lacked. Yeah, I know the 8 looks better than the Speed 3 but having a small kid I needed a car I could use on a daily basis. The Speed 3 is fun to drive but seeing how I never keep a car for a long period of time I'm now considering an IS350.

^i feel u there speed3's are fun little cars not really my style with the hatchback but it pulls damn hard when the turbo kicks in i believe it's like 260tq or so it's def a fun car!

ludicrous. i have a 4 year old and a 6 month old and I'm mostly a stay at home Dad for both of them. the RX-8 is the car i bought before they were born with children in mind. they both came home from being born in it. i take them both in it with me to do the grocery shopping. I can fit both strollers in it plus extra stuff when we need it. this is the car i use on a daily basis to go anywhere with them. even when my wife had her subie wagon we generally took the 8. Now that she has the 5 we do more in it but its still me and the boys in the 8 75% of the time. I'd have it no other way. |
yeah i am sure the 3071 turbo would tear a speed3 up hell prob even the entry level greddy turbo would give it a good run! but i hear u when u say "wrong wheel drive" ill never go back to FWD for a "sports car" maybe aDD or something but not for sportts car
