interior lights are being weird

Today I noticed that, while driving, the interior lights up above the dash, or between the sun visors, would randomly come on. The doors are all closed. I switched the switch to "OFF" rather than "DOOR". So okay they go off. Then they randomly come on again, I would have to hit that general area and they would go off. It's been happening all day, all I have to do to get them to go off is just slap the roof right there. But then they come on again a few minutes later. Sometimes just one light & sometimes both lights.

I searched and couldn't really find another problem like this. I'm having no other problems at all. Only seems to happen when I am driving, I checked it out when it's parked, but running, and they stay off, and they also do not come on when the car is parked and not running. They never came on when I was stopped at a stop light or something, just while driving.

05 60k miles, has a sunroof, & it hasn't really rained much here lately. (very light rain on either Thursday or Friday I think). I did get a new battery two weeks ago, but problem just started today.

It was also really hot today, like 90-95 freaking degrees, & I kinda drove a lot today. It's been close to 90 this whole past week. though. Not sure if that has anything to do with anything. Prob not.

You have a positive power wire for the overhead lights making a connection on the circut. Why and where is going to be the interesting part. All I can say is good luck tracking it down.

You may have a short circuit of some sort. Have a certified electrician to check it out, good luck.

lol I am not going to have a certified electrician do anything.

I just need to open that light thing up and look for a screwy wire I guess.

I would check the rear doors, even though they seem to closed, sometimes
the switch located at top of the door is not fully depressed.
Check the door you opened last to get your stuff from the back seat.

If it comes on when you tap on the light panel then it's not a door switch. There is constant power to the light panel all the time. The lights come on when they are grounded via one of the door switches or the switch on the light panel. I would bet you have a pinched wire behind the light panel. It should be removed to check for this. Bring it to my shop in Edmond and I'll check it for you. Something as simple as this I likely won't charge you for, or you could buy me a coke lol. If you want the shop address hit me up
