Injector Cleaner
Injector Cleaner
does it matter what type of fuel injector cleaner I use on my 8? Is it bad for the engine? Just wondering I don't want to hurt anything on my 8! Thanks guys
works great..

Cleaning is very important for the 8, but so is lubrication because of the rotary's design. WIth this in mind, I would use a fuel additive that also lubricates as well as cleans such as Lube Control FP3000 or FP60, Redline SI-1, Lucas UCL, or Marvel Mystery Oil.
Others such as BG's 44k, Chevron's Techron, and Gumout's Regane are all excellent cleaners, but do not provide any lubricity to the fuel.
Lube Control is web order only and BG is through authorized service shops - the rest can be obtained from AutoZone, Advance Auto, or Wally World.
If you Premix as well, this will eliminate the additional lubricity need. If not, I would choose a fuel cleaner that lubricates as well.

Red line
Hey guys, i remember reading a couple of members that used the Red line fuel injector cleaner and reading somewhere that a bottle treats up to 100 gallons.. So i'm reading the directions on the back and its telling me to put the whole bottle in when i go to fill up.. I dont see anything that says the bottle treats up to 100 gallons (Someone here used 1/3 of the bottle).. Thanks
BG44k is pretty expensive.
They have a cleaning process that is even better than the "over-the-counter" stuff, so if I were to spend the extra $$ on BG, I'd just go ahead and have the pressure service done at an authorized BG dealer.

WTF?? My label is totally different... Hmmm.. Mine doesnt say anything like that. Mine says "Add entire bottle to fuel tanks for quick cleanup before filling tank-use entire tank before refilling..."
BTW, my label is silver not red like urs..

^ Dude, you sure it's SI-1, and not SI-2 you're looking at? I never got why they produced both (kind of redundant) when SI-1 can do an initial treat of one bottle per tank, or be used as regular maintenance diluted into 100 gallons.
Me too, but he's right - there is a silver-label version of the product that is marked differently.
I don't know what it says on the back and I don't know which is "newer".
I just started using the stuff instead of the Chevron stuff.

yep,
but how do you get those pesky last valves open during the process?? as those seem to be the ones that really need cleaning..
