Talking Increase Exhaust Volume???

Having read racing beats article on supposed hp gains in aftermarket exhaust systems which seem to only give you a moderate power gain and only result in louder exhaust .

I am wondering if a speaker / amplifier attached to the stock standard exhaust system would yield similar loader exhaust noise without the crazy aftermarket exhausts prices??? which seem to yield very little extra power???

Could this be done ???

How???

At least if this could be done you would retain originall exhaust noise but it would be louder and a lot cheaper to achieve.

If you like louder exhaust sound you'd probably like this as well.

Maybe you could splice the power from the underbody neon.

Or just poke a hole in the cat.

BLOW OFF BLOW OFF!! GO WITH THE BLOW OFF
Also you can get a front mounted intake that looks like an intercooler for a turbo.

Look, if you guys have nothing useful to suggest to him that's fine, but since it's not your car, DEAL WITH IT! He can do what he wants. These little rude comments are really getting really old. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean someone else doesn't. Either be polite or don't type.

well, there're a few different things you could do, that i know are done.

muffler / screw driver + hammer = louder

or if you're not unwilling to spend some money (not more than a replacement exhaust) you could head to a muffler shop and get them to cut out your stock one and weld into place one which is just louder.

or you could just go with the straight pipe, but that's probably a little too loud

WAKEECH
THANKS For your input , could a amplifier or a speaker be used to increase the exhaust noise levels and were could one place it ??

Elara

Thanks .

Its my party and i cry if i want to .( the song ) and the same applies to my car .

Ihave seen exhaust mods that look ordinary and only give you a louder exhaust .if i can achieve a louder exhaust level with out changing the standard exhaust i dont see a problem with it .

Until hp figures on exhaust improvements can be verified , i will stick to my plan for the time being or until i get MAURICES (CANZOOMERS ) Stage 2 kit that requires new exhaust .

really all kidding aside I think most of the people on this forum prefer to have function over form. although the current exhausts do not produce stellar gains in overall hp you would still be pleased with the results. teh suggestion of a speaker system is highly impractical and if your plan is to change the exhaust setup as soon as you can get canzoomers stage 2 then the best thing you could do would be to do some quick research on which new exhaust you could install now and still be able to use with the B-pipe. that way you dont waste money on a speaker setup or risk the ire of the anti rice community. The only way you could justify a speaker system would be to install a loud exhaust and then set up the speakers to cancel out the undesirable sounds on command (like when you are rolling past krispy kreme or other donut shops) that would be cool.

Sorry michael, reading this thread (which I believe is entirely within my rights, my party) gave way to a heavy dose of ROF type of laughing. If it's noise you want, please buy my Miata. My wife broke the muffler going over a dirt trail more suited to my Expedition. I think you would be well served canning the laughter on that link and just playing it on your Bose at a volume to suit your needs.

You know, one of the reasons why a lot of people buy a rotary is that it IS so smooth and quiet. (Piston engine goes boing, boing, boing). 8000 rpm on my 8 feels like 5000 rpm on my Miata (with a fixed muffler), and that's generally a good thing. I don't really care what you do to your 8, even if it does seem morally wrong, but judging by the reaction on this board you can be sure that a lot of people will be laughing at you once they've figured out what you've done. If that's cool with you, go for it. If I heard your car I'd be looking around for the hidden Candid Camera. And Spinny beat me to it, although maybe the Black-and-Whites don't hang out at donut shops in Australia the way they do here. I was going to suggest you change the sound track to Mozart when you rolled past the police station.

As most of the exhaust aftermarket products are in JAPAN and from AMERICA .

The cost of importing ,shipping custom duty exchange rate makes most of these parts way to expensive here in AUSTRALIA.

I KNOW OF ONLY ONE AFTERMARKET exhaust system specific to the rx8 here in AUSTRALIA.

If you would have read my previous threads i only thought about this as a temperary fix until i get Stage1 kit and then go on to stage2 kit which requires an aftermarket exhaust modified to suit the extra temperatures stage 2 kit puts out.

Bernieunger.

As far as" you know, one of the reasons people buy a rotary is that it is So smooth and quiet."

My first encounter with a rotary engine car was in 1972 when i co -owned a R 100 ROTARY (MOST LIKELY BEFORE YOU AND SOME OF THE OTHER FORUM MEMBERS KNEW HOW TO WALK OR TALK .

From memory it had a better sounding exhaust than my current RX8 excepting it chewed the oil and petrol and blew all its seals .

All comments are appreciated obviously some more than others.

I bought a battery powered boom box that will play a tape that I recoreded my exhaust note with. It will play it at what ever increase of volume I want. I will set it to 5 X and put it in my catback. I will route a wire to the battery to recharge it.

I'll let you know how it goes, should sound real nice.

i wouldn't mind a louder exhaust as well but i'm not about to pay $500+ for it if it's only going to give me 5 HP, give or take (i spent that $500 on Canzoomers Stage1 which i'm hoping will give me 25-30hp)...i've never bought any resonator tips but would those help you? i think those make it sound a little louder, i dunno

HMMMM Very interesting , would it work on a rotary engine exhaust , great find .

Maybe i can get my friend to look at the concept and adapt it to specifically suit the rx8.

Thanks.

For all the knockers out there obviously some people in JAPAN AND U.S.A. ..... DO....... THINK OUTSIDE OF THE SQUARE.
