I have to disagree, Quebec isn't much cheaper than Ontario for example. Check out this link http://www.canadatrader.com/result/d...2&pgno=1&srt=7, it is the cheapest RX8 on autotrader for 15500k for 51000km. Actually looks like a good deal. On average tho the Rx8s in Quebec are 16900 and up. States they can start at 12-12500k. Then remember the exchange rate now at 1.07 so a 12kusd is only $11,600. It is more of a headache yes but worth it!

My two cents!

Importing a US car into Canada makes a lot of sense now. Canuck buck is worth $1.07 US. The only mods necessary for a new car is daytime running lights.

There is a 6% import duty plus applicable taxes. It is a bit of a hassel, but there are auto brokers who will do all the work for you for a nominal fee.

Cars manufactured in Japan are an especially good deal due to the weak Yen. Alternatively, cars manufactured in the US are not subject to the 6% duty. YAY for NAFTA! BTW, I think the BMW Z4 is made in US, can somebody verify this for me?

I wouldn't buy a Ford Focus cross border. But big ticket cars are definitely worth it. My friend just picked up an Infiniti M35 for $10,000 less than what he would pay in Canada (after all expenses, duties, fees, shipping, etc).

My next car will probably be purchased cross-border unless manufacturers drop their prices drastically in Canada. Porsche has just reduced their prices 10% across the board but the Boxster is still $6,000 more in Canada than the US when the C$ was $0.97 US.
