FL I'm confused or just gullible..help??

Hi..im new here so if this sounds like a retarded question i apologize..but..i'm a bit confused right now...i have a 2005 Shinka..i bought it used..had some issues..( TADA!!) but over all its been alright. so..anyways...this whole time i thought i had a Shinka edition..I'm trying to sell the car but this guy claims that its not the shinka. It says shinka on the door molding...and its not a stickers..where it says shinka..its part of the door. How can i confirm that my car is the shinka or not??? This potential buyer sounds like he knows his stuff about these cars..but is he using that to take advantage of me ..because i dont know a whole lot. can anyone help?? i called Mazda and they said they couldn't tell me even thru my vin??..well..that doesnt make sense to me why Mazda couldnt tell me. This guy is trying to tell memine is just a coup.

I'm almost positive that the Shinkas did not come in winning blue. If whoever you bought it from claimed it was a Shinka and made the price a bit higher then you got taken advantage of.

Anyone can easily buy the B-pillars that say Shinka or anything on them really.

Yep. That's no Shinka. Shinka's come in Brilliant Black Mica, Galaxy Grey Mica, Copper Red Mica, Whitewater Pearl Mica (or Crystal White Pearl), and Black Cherry Mica ( I think that is all of them). You should have done your homework. Is it at least a Grand Touring (leather Interior)?

And the '05 Shinka – which was the first one – came in only one color: Black Cherry Mica with Parchment leather interior.

This is true. Also, Black Cherry Mica was only offered on the 2005 Shinka.

Other Shinka differences:
Parchment leather interior, with Black Cherry stitching.
Leather wrapped parking break and shifter, both with Black Cherry stitching.
Piano black side accents along the center console (vs aluminum color on the non-Shinkas.)
Dark-silver gloss aluminum wheels.
Bilstein shocks and urethane foam injected cross member.

Sorry to hear you got screwed by the previous owner/seller.

Yes, you should have done your research before buying the car. But also, the previous owner/seller should have been more honest too.

This situation is a great example of the issue some of us have been discussing on the "R3 with no Recaros on ebay" thread. At least you didn't buy a Shinka with a different interior!

As you know now, the Shinka is a special edition car that came with specific options from factory. That sticker alone unfortunately does not make your car a Shinka.

You should remove the sticker to avoid further confusion when you sell the car.

Good luck.

If it makes you feel any better, the '05 Shinka is essentially just a Grand Touring model with a special color paint and interior, plus a few other little tweaks. It's not like the difference between a Porsche 911 and a Porsche 911 Turbo or anything. Let me put it this way, if I were shopping a used 8, I'd take a well-maintained "regular" RX-8 over an ordinary Shinka, no contest.

"Perhaps following the image-boosting strategy developed with the plethora of special-edition Miatas, Mazda unveiled this RX-8 Shinka edition. With Mitsubishi laying claims to the name Evolution, Mazda chose Shinka, a Japanese word meaning “evolution” or “transformation.” The most noticeable transformation to the RX-8 is the eye-catching Black Cherry paint, a color only available on the 2150 copies of the Shinka. Inside, Parchment Tan leather cradles occupants, while their ears are assaulted by a 300-watt Bose sound system that includes a six-disc in-dash CD changer and standard Sirius satellite radio. Loath to let the sound system do the only assaulting in a special edition, Mazda engineers prepared the RX-8’s suspension for an assault on the corners, with tweaks such as a foam urethane-filled front suspension crossmember and specially tuned dampers. Rigidity is improved by reinforcing the upper portion of the A-pillars and the rear shock mounting points. Like standard RX-8s, the Shinka is available either with the 9000-rpm, 238-horsepower twin rotary hooked to a six-speed manual or a 198-horsepower rotary coupled to a four-speed automatic."
— Car and Driver, 2/05

If I were selling your car, I'd remove the owner-applied 'Shinka' decals. That way, a knowledgeable buyer won't think you're trying to put something over on him, and he won't wonder "what else" on the car is not what it seems.

Thanks for all the replys everyone..very much appreciated..hard to swollow... but much appreciated all the same. I'll definately remove those items off the car or at least let them know about it and sell it accordingly. I'm a pretty honest person and treat everyone like i want to be treated and i couldnt sell a fake rolex to anyone. The comment from New Yorker about a knowledgeable buyer thinking i am trying to put something over on them...i felt that way when that guy wanting to buy the car was aking all those questions about it..i was like man...i swear i didnt do anything to it!!...i felt bad..but i wasnt trying to get over on anybody. Kinda pissed actually that i was done that way. lessoned learned. Thanks again guys!! Hope you all have a great Christmas and a great New Years!!

YaXMan............" Shinka'd!!!!" <------------------------------lol..thats a good nick name for me fo sho!!

You're definitely not the only one... it's happened to several folks.
Just search for "Shinka'd" and you'll see a couple.

Merry Christmas, man.

I thought Shinka was made in 2006? Anyways, if you do a carfax with your VIN number you can determine if it's a Shinka or not.

The Shinka editions were made in both 2005 and 2006.

Well in 05 , the only Shinka was the black cherry, which to me looks black but I am an old man with bad eyes.
In the right light the cherry colors comes out!
In 06 the Shinka came in different colors.

I traded my Original Shinka wheels to a forum member from Dallas for his 19 aftermarket ones.
So he how has Shinka wheels on a non Shinka model. He gave back the car after his lease was up.
So now there is a non Shinka in Dallas with Shinka wheels. Will anyone notice?

He nor the dealer will remove those wheels. They just sell it as is. or maybe not if they figure the wheels might be worth a bit more than the standard ones?

I bought a used 06 Shinka, copper red, stick, with 24K miles in September 07 for $19.750

Have been happy with it, have 45k miles now, 4 years later. Have gone to the Dragon from Texas, ie 2k + miles. To Leakey twice, to Texas RX8 state meet, etc ..2k+ miles but do not use it as my daily driver.

Some peeps here talk down to us the Shinka owners but to each his own,
MINE STILL TURNS ME ON.

Yes, My Touring has the Bose, HID's, DSC, Fogs, etc.

Myardor,

My old Shinka wheels (bought from Shinka Mami) are on a BB somewhere here in Texas because I traded the Shinka's plus cash for my old Volk GT-F's and then he (8maniac) sold the car. But at least BB is a Shinka color.

How do people talk down to Shinka owners?
