I think I just out-ran a cop...

So, I'm on my way home about 1/8th of a mile from my house, and I'm going 59 in a 50, which is normal speed of traffic for that road. Coming the opposite direction is a state trooper in an SUV.

The second he passes me, his lights go on, and I think to myself.... awww crap, but he doesn't instantly turn around. I'm not 100% sure if he was after me, because I just hurried my way to my house, pulled in the driveway, and put the car in the garage.

I didn't see if he drove by or not, so I'm still not 100% sure if he was after me, but DAMN was my heart racing...

Thing that sucks is a yellow RX-8 isn't exactly easy to forget... so now I'm worried if this trooper will be keeping an eye out for me in the future

Do you have a radar detector? Was it going off?

He may be keeping his eye out for you but i think he can't get u for that time. You could do what i do, and just put graphics on your car and take them off or change them every once and a while. That way they won't fully recognize you, unless they got ur tags, then ur busted.

I highly doubt he was after you for only 9 mph over the speed limit.......here in Connecticut (or New England in general), typically they don't pull you over unless you are 10 - 15 mph over the limit.

I had that happen to me once in my brill black.

Cop did a U turn, so did I. He got stuck behind traffic, then I pulled into a subway and sat down. Got some food, filled my drink up. Walked outside looked around, de nada! So I get in my car and burn down the residential area's not taking the main road.

I go down like 10 blocks and think, eh, I should be in the clear now right?

So I head up 5 streets and get ready to make a right turn on the main road, then BAM. The cop is right to my left in the right hand lane, makes a complete stop and turns his lights and and waves me to pull out into the lane...I'm like WOW WTF!

Sucks.

How can he still give you a ticket? Can a cop seriously say "I clocked you going 55 in a 30 about 45 minutes ago!!!"

of course the cop can still give him a ticket. That's like saying you can't arrest a bank robber unless you catch them in-the-act

Cops can pretty much do whatever they want.

wait what? how could he prove it was you??? i would ask him what he is talking about when he pulled you over...AND he can't pull you over without reason. you could have gotten away with it if you knew your laws. without proof that ticket is as good as toilet paper. if you did get the ticket im sorry to hear that, how very unfortunate of you.

He wasn't gonna pull you. I had one do the same thing to me almost. I was driving about 63 in a 50 and I passed a cop, he turns on his lights and once he saw me hit my brakes he turned them off and kept going. He's just saying, hey, slow the f**k down.

Yeah, more likely scenario... he was called to an accident or some other event where he was radioing in. He flipped his lights, and was probably talking to dispatch. If he wanted you, he would have gotten you.

I've actually had this happen as well... the chances of a cop pegging you from the other lane, while driving, is pretty much slim to none. I'm not saying that it's not possible... just not plausible.

Glad there was no harm done though.

If he didn't turn around, he wasn't after you. He was either on another call or letting you know he saw you and didn't want to haul that truck around to chase you down.

If you see a cop turn around on you just pull over. A ticket is better than jail. It's like the Blues Brother said, "You never going to out run a Motorolla".
