Angry I think i had enough of my RX8!!!! (( KINDA LONG ))

1st thing i buy the car almost a month ago 4 weeks to be exact with 2000 Miles on it.
Am driving it The same day the OIL light comes on, it kinda freaked out because of this, so I Pull to the side to check my OIL well guess what,, their was nothing in it!!.

I said its cool I love this car still so I take it back to the dealer fill it with almost 4 quarts of oil and they said blah blah blah we checked it we don't know why it was like this.
2 days later the same thing happens again, SO i went back saying I STILL Love my RX-8 but the oil light came on!!.

Now they take the car in and I got a freaking rental for 2 days and all they do is changed the OIL Pan sensor !!!! NOW here is where I triped out What is it got to do with the OIL sensor ???? someone explains this for me any ways.

They did their thing I got the car back NOW one week later the Light comes ON AGAIN (( NOW, AM PISSD )) i take it right back to them and tell them its still happening LOW OIL IN 1 WEEK ?? SO they said we will check it out, I say I Don't have time now because I need to be at work I Left for work. After I get off work i POP the HOOD to check the OIL and guess what POWER STEERING or something is LEAKING FROM there (( NOW i just lost it )) + the Cigarette Lighter DOESN'T Even WORK, SO i need Some help on what should I do NEXT Should I get my MONEY back OR should I tell them to give me another Rx-8 or just let them DO their thing ??

I'd say get another one...a new one...something is fishy with symptoms your car is giving you. Maybe was a buyback? or a demo they did smthg strange to or someone truly abused the hell out of it or worse.

Some of the symptoms (oil light) have a fix (oil pan sensor), but NO OIL - would make me wanna go Huuummmm... then take it back!

I'd also worry about the dealer you got it from.......

Sounds like you just got a lemon. I would talk to the dealer and see if they would be opposed to giving you a new car. If you make no head way with that I would contact Mazda directly. THe car is an awesome car.

Yep, sounds like you got an abused car my friend. I second everyting Spin9k said. We know about the Oil light mysteriously coming on and there is a fix for it but burning huge amount of oil is very very abnormal. I don't recall see anything on this forum.

I would want to seriously know what happened in that car's first 2k miles of ownership... sounds like some major abuse may have occured. I agree with the above - that almost sounds like a buy-back vehicle... did you buy it as new or used?

Unless you got a helluva deal, I would pursue replacing it if they can't resolve the oil issue...

Dude, get your lemon law case together and get another 8 (and maybe another dealership). This is a car you don't want. Good luck and I hope you stick with the 8 (albeit a different car) in the future.

Whoa! If the Dealer sold it as Brand New, but DMV has it as used, that is called FRAUD! You have a real issue here with the dealer. Mazda NA should also be informed. Unfortunately, deals that are too good to be true usually are...

Also, most states mandate a vehicle of a certain mileage must be sold as demos (600 - 700 miles usually). 2k miles is NOT new. It would be nice if you could call your sales guy, and ask him if he is sure you bought a new car. Be sure and record and document the call. Even if the recording is not admissable, your documentation of all these events will support your claim.

Sweet! Maybe print out the California Lemon Law Statute and take your paperwork to the dealer. Have a sit-down with the Manager and explain to him you are going to the nearest attorney with your claim. Threaten him to reverse the transaction or give a killer deal on a NEW RX-8. I would demand less than invoice, several thousand less. I would reason that their legal fees, time, etc. would be worth more than that.
One thing for certain, I would use them to get a great deal... but I sure as heck wouldn't ever go back after that!

I'd try to do a Carfax check to see how many times the car has been titled.

If the CA DMV says it's used, it's used there is no arguing about it on the dealership's part. Carfax gets their info from state DMVs and it takes a while for info to get to them. Definitely have a nice talk with your dealership's general manager and contact your state's consumer fraud division. I have a similar problem with dealership issues that is still pending from my purchase in January.

Here is Illinois, a car is considered new, no matter how many miles it has on it, until it is first titled. I know of no state that has a mileage maximum to be new. Did you buy the car as a demo?

I know it's easy to be enchanted by a new car that you fall in love with that little things like mileage and their pathetic excuses get by you.

Good luck but don't give up, they ripped you off, give them what they have comming to them.

I would get in touch with Mazda NA. They are quite nice to deal with and will save you the hassle of taking the dealer to court. Mazda will definitely have at it with the dealer for what they did, but they should have no problem with giving you a new car.

My fiance just took delivery of an 04 Mazda6s after her 03 was the largest turd on 4 wheels. They had no problems giving her everything she had as far as options go and then some. When we picked it up it with 3 miles on it, this is also after putting almost 6k miles on the old one. Straight trade and still have the same loan, just a different VIN on the loan.

Sorry about your luck but I'm more than confident that Mazda will help you out like they did us. Good Luck!

Do you have documented that they needed to add 4 quarts of oil to bring it level? That's ridiculous and I think I would demand a buy-back on the spot. I think if I had an engine failure and brought the vehicle in with the engine 4 quarts low they'd certainly claim abuse. Works both ways.

UPDATE on What's going ON to my Car.

Well, The manager called in Mazda representative, and I had a Lil talk to him.
According to him the Dealer have to run a complete report of the car logging every thing from the day it started until now and they have to record every thing. He said they have to show a probable Cues for that to happen or if it is defective or lemon car.
Now am waiting for the results till they get it. After that is done its going to be sent to Mazda CO to be looked at Carefully, he said if the Problem continue bring the car back and u will be given a New One with the same Pack that i got or maybe More in it this time, so i guess i cant DO any thing till we get the Results back

You've done the right thing. Hopefully if you tell it to them straight, they now will be doing the same with you, esp w/MNAO involved.

Good luck, must be a little exciting to think you are likely to get a new 8!

lemon law in california: same persistent problem that the dealer tries to fix and fails for three times, you could ask for your money back or a replacement of exactly the same car. you should have this info as part of the info you got when you bought your car

The RX-8 I drove for my testdrive had about 1400 miles on it. When I drove it, the salesman had me red line the car on every gear (1-4). Most likely this car got abuse on every single testdrive. Maybe you got one of those abused cars. I say have them give you a new one. Mine had 12 miles when I got it. 600 miles later and everything is perfect. Well, the MPG could be a bit better... Good luck.
