I need some advice

Hey, Im a 19 year old kid whos looking to get a car to have a little fun with. I want something i can upgrade and tune on the inside AND out. But im having a little trouble. Im currently not an Rx8 owner but im strongly leaning toward it. But i cant decide weather or not to get an Rx8 or a Speed6.....I would be buying it brand new so i want to make sure i make the right decision so i wondered if someone could help point out some things that could help me make up my mind?....im open to any suggestions and ideas. Give me some good things about both cars if you could please! thanks

Get a mazdaspeed3. Cheaper, faster than both of those cars (0-60 5.4 seconds) and has a cutting edge, torquesteer eliminating electronic differential.

MSRP $19,800 and it's a hatchback with leather racing seats so chicks will dig the hot hatch (it is stylish) and it'll have a lot of room for hauling things. It;s the (currently made) Mazda I'd probably want the most right now. Or a Shinka Rx-8 if you can afford it (or find one).

I just read a review on the 3 and they said it still had Torque steer, quite a bit of it too.

I guess it comes down to what you want.

For straight line speed plus a little more reliable go for the mazdaspeed 3. It is front wheel drive so not a "true" sports car.

More fun in the twisties and a generally cooler car go for the Rx-8. It's a rear wheel drive with 50/50 weight balance sports car.

I would suggest you test drive them both and see which one you like.

Being pre-turbo-ed it'll be cheaper to mod the 3.

If you are planning to spend a lot modding then maybe the Rx-8 is the way to go. There is 1 Turbo out now and more Forced Injection systems should be out within the year.

Your answer is either a STI or EVO coz the aftermarket tuning for both MPS6 and RX-8 isn't that great.

The best way to make you choice is to make a list of possible cars.

Then do 2 to 3 test drives a day. (You don't really want to do to many in a day or they all sorta mash together)

Try to get your list down to two finalists and then on the same day test drive them again.

That should give you a good compare/contrast.

From the way it sounds, the 8's prolly not gonna be the car for you. If you're wanting to tune inside and out, and have a car to "just have a littel fun with", you'll find the downsides and complexities of the 8 to likely annoy you.

Agree with the others...if u really wanna stick in the Mazda family, an MS6 or new MS3 sounds more like yur route.

Eh, just be like the rest of the kids and get a honda civic or like Romeo said a prelude. Cheap to get if you get one from the 90s and then you can tune it up all you want.

Just go by the new Civic SI coupe or sedan. You can tune them and still have reliability. get the Navi to attract the chicks too lol.

If you're only gonna do a strait line run a GSR or TypeR is a waste of $$$.
Stock civic motor can hold 12psi from the greddy kit and 15psi with just rods, but the end all strait line god is a h22 hatch. They can pull a 12 sec pass on a stock motor with slicks and open headers. They also can handle a nice shot of nos pretty easy with a inline fuel pump.
