I made a bunch of little boys very happy lastnight!

I was out in the parkinglot messing around under the hood and 3 kids came over checking it out.. they were like 9 or 10. The car was already warmed up and in gear but I told them they could check out the interior as long as no one sat in the drivers seat.

I just happened to be checking out my CZ's interface to the laptop so I showed them the laptop and software and how it was hooked up to the car. They seemed AMAZED and started talking about Fast and the Furious, LOL

Well they left some grease stains on the windows but didn't do any damage.

Now THAT is a sinister thread title! :p

I think the young, teen guys are most excited about this car! This past weekend, we had some skaters at a stop sign yell, "WHOA, RX-8" LOL :D

I stopped off at Bojangles the other day and the girl at the window went and got another girl. I could tell they were talking about my 8. Then the cuter one asks if she could go for a ride in it. It's good to be admired!

The majority of people that comment have been from kids.., under 15 I think. This neighborhood is lousy with kids. I think most of the dads are too jealous to say anything out loud! Though the one guy with a vette gives me a dirty look every time he rolls past. Not sure what his beef is.

Wow, that's surprising. I have gotten pretty good comments so far.

I have to agree... there is a level of jealousy.. not sure WHY though!
People at work were/are like that. If I had bought a Saturn or such, they wouldn't act like this! They would say... "ohh new car", "nice car", etc.

I was going on a sunday cruise around town a few weeks back. I seen a little kid waiting to cross the street at a crosswalk, so I stopped for him to cross. The little boy was hypnotized by the car or something because he never let his eyes off the car once, as he walked across. Low and behold, he trips up and falls on his knees! I didn't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for the kid.

Ok - here's a weird one......

I took my boss and his wife (in the RX8) to Beverly Hills to pick up his new Ferrari Challenge Stradale - and after being at the dealer's taking care of paperwork etc., we all went to dinner.

I am following him in traffic, in Beverly Hills. We stop at a light, he is in front of me with his brand new, RED Ferrari. There are a bunch of Jr High Boys with skateboards standing at the light. They all start jumping up and down and yelling nice car....

It took a minute before both my boss (ahead of me) and I realized that the car they were so excited about was the RX8.

He was a little pissed........I was A LOT amazed!

I agree with the age thing. I have noticed MANY teenagers going wild over my car. People more their parent's age too like it as well. I have been asked a lot of questions from SUV owners more my age especially.

The 8 is a timeless car - those classic exotica looks and the somewhat riced looks (tailights, etc.) of the younger taste. It is just a neat car.

Now the Ferrari story above is a great story.

I too have one of those "vette guys" in my neighborhood only with a G35 coupe - thinks their better.

Another thing about non-RX8 owners- they seem to have convinced themselves, or maybe have been misinformed, into thinking the RX isn't quick or fast at all. I had a couple of Focus SVT owners try to tell me the could take me. I told them to put their cash where their mouths are. Have yet to hear back.

I don't know if I would use the word timeless. I love the look of the 8 but a lot of people don't. It has a very Japanese/Origami look to it. A lot of the attention is because it is new but it is a cool looking car.

When I moved into my new neighbothood a couple of the kids came over loved the car, I let them get inside and take a look. They wanted me to give them a ride so bad, but I told them they had to get their parents permission hehe.
Another neighbor came and introduced himself and immediately inquired about the car. He said they were trying to guess what it was, he thought for sure it was a BMW or at least europeon. I told him it was a Mazda and he couldn't believe it. "A Mazda?...Really?" he said. :D

Just tell them to meet you at the track, or autoX, or whatever.

Be careful, the SVT focus' are pretty quick and can handle really well.

It only has an origami look to it if you drive uninsured and get into an accident.

Sorry to change the subject here, but how quick is the Focus SVT? Anyone have any experience?
