I can't do a burnout.

How do I do a burn out!?!? argh! (without a line lock or water puddle)..
Both rear tires are shot.
Pic for proof.

I have replacements to install.

Since those tires are not usable to anybody, I thought it would be good fun to learn how to do a proper burn out. But how without a line lock?

(had fun playing with video editing software)

This was a "safe" dead end road not near any residential.

So how do I without damaging car?

push clutch in rev to 6500rpms and let go/pop the clutch and bounce the throttle!
why are you trying to do a burn out anyways?

Ok- so maybe I am coming across wrong here.

Either that- or RX8 club has been invaded by douche-bags... idk.

I actually do autocross (SCCA).
I owned an RX7 before this (12A).
I have driven manual transmission vehicles BY CHOICE since I started driving (in the 80s).
I bought my 6 speed 04 RX8 brand new.
This is the end of my 3rd set of tires in 40k miles... I live 1 mile from work, so most of the miles are fun miles.

The current tires are Sumitomo HTR-Z IIIs 235/40/18 (really good tires for the price).

I think the almost slick sticky tires + warm weather + sticky surface (lots of tire rubber there) made my task difficult.

I've never done it- for the sake of the tires- and just want to learn how.

throttle to the floor and dump the clutch then left foot brake.
but seriously, save your clutch by not doing it.

And that is my concern.
I don't want to use up 50k miles of clutch wear in one burn out (it already seems a bit soft in aggressive acceleration shifts).

And I would tell nycgps to go **** himself.
But I have seen his kids, and he really need to stop that ****.

I love reading a thread title and knowing it will be amusing...

Have you ever done a burnout? Are you actually even breaking traction?

This shouldn't be that hard, I'm running the same tires HTRZ-llls and burn outs are no problem what so ever.

oh my butt hurts ---- NOT.
Searching returns MANY threads, and only one or two actually about how to do a burn out.
But the "hold dsc down for 7 seconds" thing is probably helpful (found in one thread).
It flashes repeatedly iirc.
I remember something about that from the early dyno issue topics.

And I only responded to you like that because you started out with "he is a ******* moron"... and so I figured that's the only language you understood.

And note I originally planned to video record my burn out (for intervine use).
But that didn't go as planned (obviously), and later watching the video I found my inability rather comical (and why I added the Beck song).
Nobody ever seems to admit they can't do a burn out.
It was not a jab at the car.

Oddly enough- the last "just floor it" launch was actually a high rpm clutch drop (7000 rpm).
But dang if it didn't take off like a factory prepped 1/4 mile test Ferrari.
I would have NEVER guessed these tires would be this sticky with so little tread left.
The original Dunlops and then Kumhos were easy to spin in anything less than 70 degree weather when they still had tread left, let alone when they were down to slicks in the middle.

-- and to add to that, it has been raining for the last few days and these tires still take effort to break loose. I am baffled.

U need to learn how to search and have some god damn basic understanding of how the car works b4 u try to act like u are cool ...
I'm just a guy that posted a video on the internet of real life mistakes.
Does that make me cool? Nope.
But you have chosen to be a douche-bag more than once in this thread,.
That makes you a douche-bag.
So I am a moron and you are a douche-bag.
Maybe we should start a band?

Asking how to do a burnout isn't against the site rules, that's how. If you don't like the question, ignore it and go on to the next thread.
