Ok so for the 06 and 07 GT's the new key fob ((new unlock/car start)) option is awesome....

hence all the new threads popping up about it....and its because of these threads I became interested in a certain question......moving on....

so....say you walk up to your car...it unlocks....you get in.....next you sit in the car and it starts.....you begin driving.....your gf/bf/HB/WF is sitting right next to you and so they ask you to roll down the windows.....you do....

Next your keys begin to irratate you and you take them out of your pocket and place them in the cupholders.....your significant other grabs them while your going 80 mph on the freeway.....

they pretend they are going to throw the keys out of the window.....and actually do....

what would happen to the 8? Would it turn off? Crash and cause inevitable death? Or would it just drive on.....

I believe in that situation your passenger door light disappears.

It's happened to quite a few people I swear...

It still runs, once it is started, I have gotten out and walked outside the car it still ran fine.

I believe the FOB is only required to start the car, but I could be wrong. Once it's started you can throw the key out the window.

^ Yes. If you get out with the car running, it beeps and there is a little red 'key' light on the dash that flashes. If you shut the door it gives you a little song of beeps (quite annoying). If you threw the key out it would run, but would beep and beep and beep until you get it back in again.

Its a default for those of us that get out and leave the keys in the house door after you lock it

The dealer told me it would run until the Key FOB and the car are seperated. (The distance wasn't discussed) But they said if I had the Key FOB in my pocket and someone car jacked me that the car would shut off after the Perp drove away...
"Great I thought, now the would-be car jacker is really going to be pissed at me now"

i think what would happen is the brakes would be applied in a very drastic manner - showing exactly why they were the best breaks out there when the car was launched. the car would be stopped in about 120ft giving your passenger with the whiplash a much shorter walk to retrieve them then had they been in a lesser car.

It still runs. It just beeps at first then stops. I've never tried driving off without the key but the dealer told me the engine would keep running. So if you get carjacked, just hope the guy stalls cuz he won't be able to start the car again without the key inside the car.
