How to tell what "Flash" the car has?

He's as bad as Can
Ask the service writer at the dealership.
I don’t mean to be a wise *** but that is the easiest way. The only “trick” I know is the hit the brakes 20 times way (do a search for that). But that will only tell you if the flash is “L” or higher. Depending on the build date of your 8 you might be at the L or M flash already. You also might have a blue sticker under the hood / engine compartment that would reference a PCM upgrade. We would need to know what it said and the date to tell what flash they did. Not all dealers place that sticker on the car when they do flashes so asking the dealer is the easiest.
