I love driving my RX-8 on longer trips. This summer I've done Lansing, MI, to Mid-Ohio for the Grand-Am races and a drive with my (at the time) 9-year old son over to the west coast of Michigan, up route 31 to 22 to Petoskey, then route 119 further up the coast (amazingly beautiful and fun road!) up to "the bridge" and over to Escanaba and back down through 119 to Lansing over 3 days. Great fun and no problems at all. Had two close calls with animals bent on self-destruction. A deer started to run out in front of us and then changed its mind. On route 119, what I believe to have been a pheasant ran in front of my RX-8, jumping just I hit it, rolling up over the car, dropping off a feather through the open moonroof, and leaving a nice bird imprint on the front bumper (which washed off). Fortunately, it missed the oil cooler. I was worried that our trip was done when that happened until I pulled over and verified that no real damage was done.

Drove 500 miles to IA and back last week. Two stops for gas and less than a quart of oil used. C:

I like it for long trips. I get to rev it more.
