how to remove the side mirror cover?

how to remove the side mirror cover?
does anyone know how I can remove the painted part of the side mirror? I was driving down the road today and I think my passenager side mirror was hitted by a huge rock or something...leaving me a big white spot on my mirror and totally damage the paint...I wanted to take it out and repaint it but have no clue how to take it out

any help would be nice
