I bought it a month after I turned 19 with my own money. It feels good being independent and not having to call mommy for $$. I guess this is what it feels like to be all grown up. *reflects* haha

I'm 24 now, I bought mine when I was 23, and the money I put down on it was my own. I live at home still, so paying $450 a month for a car is nothing compared to the rent around here.

As a member of the 'OLS FART" group, I've owned and driving ALOT of cars. My 8 is second only to a Turbo Carrera I drove for a week years ago. But then I could have bought three 8's for the price

Actually this is a survey of the age of RX8 owners that are also web site enthusiast. There actually may be many more 41+ users that are either too busy to join this group, or are not web browser types, or are not RX8 enthusiast like most of us. Generally the younger generation is the types to spend time chatting on the web.
I am 60 and have had 6 Mazda rotary vehicles. I know of other +41 RX8 owners that I would be very surprised ever visited this web site.
Still this is interesting survey. It also points out to me why some posters have little knowledge of Mazda & rotary history.

its true there seems to be alot of younger RX8 driver on this forum, but so far a MAJORITY of RX8 i see on the road were driven by ppl over 40s. I always wave at them and they give me the "wtf do I know you" look.
I got mine as a Graduation present from my parent and I have no shame in saying that. If an opportunity if given to me like this of cause I will accept it. As long as I appreciate the car and understand money doesnt fall from trees I think Im doing alot better than 90% of the ppl out there who's also my age. I think it would be foolish for me to not take the car and work for it myself, when I can just spend more time studying and doing volunteer work ( which I actually do on a weekly bases)
thats actually something I hate alot, everytime someone points to a kid in a BMW/benz and go " damn rich bastad.. must have rich parents.." so what?? just because you drive an older car doesnt mean everyone else has to. Many people I know who seems like "spoiled rich kid" because they drive around in a BMW at age 16 are actually pretty smart and hard working. Some are even studying medicine now.

25years old. I just bought my 8, it's a used 05 GT model fully loaded, execpt NAV, with 6500 KM (4000mi). I saved $22 000 bucks by buying used. Why would someone buy new....we'll I guess someone has too, if people like me want deals

You also have to keep in mind a sports car typically appeals to singles, empty nesters or weekend car purchasers. The 26-40 crowd tends to be the ones with kids and most wives arn't as forgiving as mine.

I wouldn't put to much stock in these numbers.
Couple of major biases to mention:
-Upper end of the age scale should be better defined
-Data will reflect the average age of owners in THIS forum (web skew etc.)
With these things in mind the youger age percent doesn't surprise me that much.
Having said that ... still a fun poll.
