how much should I pay for?

HI all, quick question for those with experience in this field... I'm going to be looking to get a new flywheel and a stage 1 clutch installed (cant do it myself b/c i dont have the tools or knowhow) it would seem my best alternative is to take it to a shop - there is a rotary shop (Gotham Racing) right down the road from me and I was wondering how much i should expect to pay for swapping flywheels and clutches. I know this is a labor intensive job, seeing as how they have to crack the tranny open, and will not be "cheap" but I just want to make sure i dont get gouged or anything like that. I'm a trusting fellow but with my car I always want to know for 100% sure.

Also how long do you think it should take them to do such a job?

Thanks!
Jeff

Cost - don't really know.

Should be a one day job, though. Drop off in a.m. and p/u that night.

I don't know the cost, either, but IMHO installing a clutch and flywheel on a front engine rear wheel drive car is not a big deal. Transmission does not have to be cracked open. Just removed, then put back afterwards. Shouldn't be more than a few hours work.

Unless your car is really low mileage, have them replace the throwout bearing. One of those "as long as it's already apart..." deals, like the water pump on a Honda when doing the timing belt.

Im not sure about the otheres, I've seen a flywheel with clutch change in person. It depends on the car I would say its about 3-4 hour job. Not that labor intensive. Bascially if u have the proper equipment, even 1 person can do it in 3-4 hours.

My local garage quote me 300 bux to do it on my car. They said because I need some Engine stand or tranny stand (dont remember) thats why it cost a bit more, usually they can do it for 250.

but I just got myself some wheels (see my other threads) so I guess I wont be able to do this until year end ....
