how to mod

what do you do to these cars to make them fast, besides boltons? forced induction or porting? how much rwhp does a bolton car make? thanks for the help i dont really no much about modding rotary motors

4me2 11-04-2007 07:02 PM

Buy a car that is fast.

ws6transam 11-04-2007 07:03 PM

i already have a fast car, my family member bought a stock one and i am going to help him make it quick.

4me2 11-04-2007 07:08 PM

8 are good looking, great handling 4 seater. Not made to straight line fast.

ws6transam 11-04-2007 07:15 PM

all im asking is how do you modify them, simple question. and the TA isnt just a straight line car either

ws6transam 11-04-2007 07:21 PM

thanks for the awnser

Brettus 11-04-2007 07:28 PM

heh . You need to be more specific with your questions .
To help you a little , with most boltons including a tune you can pick up an extra 20-25hp TOPS!

sucks for your family member because it's gonna cost another 4k + to make it 'quick' unless you buy used parts.

i beg to differ.

goodluck picking out a turbo. i would look into mazsport if you want as much power as you have in your ws6. anything less you can look into greddy, pettit racing, hymee, and um..returning the car.

a cheap and free way to make the 8 quicker TA?

power:weight ratio!!!

try the how much stock rx8 parts weight thread. its nice read. a good start too.
and in my personal opinion as i'm also trying to reduce weight and keeping near factory interior look...its pretty hard! even the door inner panel are made of some light hard composite. my realistic goal is 100lbs(no aftermarket light parts replacement, including wheels)

Ahhhh, but you can get lighter wheels. Why would you not do the wheels when you would strip all else?

ws6transam 11-04-2007 07:36 PM

for being what it is it handles pretty good, it is built more for a straight line i agree with that. but i still handles pretty good. im sure an rx8 handles better but for what i use it for it handles great

ws6transam 11-04-2007 07:37 PM

even if you strip 100 pounds off of your car i can do the same and with stock horse power still be quicker

For sure it can handle better than a Civic or Camry, but it's more so a straightline car with it's solid rear axle and won't come close to the handling of S2000, RX-8, Corvette, Boxster, etc. I've owned both a WS6 Trans Am and a RX-8 for years and taken both to Willow Springs track and on the straights Trans Am's power and torque is great, but when it comes to braking and the turns, the rear is very unsettling and that's with suspension mods and 285-wdith semi-slicks.\

Like the others have said, RX-8 isn't a straightline car, but only a handful of cars from factory will out handle it on the curves.

I see another going nowhere thread in the making here.

Re:

Ya, for sure Phil, OP can keep asking about the RX-8, but what's the point of defending his Trans Am on another cars forum? Trying to convince yourself on choosing the right car? Enough talk about the Trans Am and talk about the RX-8, talk about the Trans Am at the www.transamcountry.com forum or take it to the general automotive forums.

ws6transam 11-04-2007 07:50 PM

i didnt even want to bring up my car, i just asked how you mod a rotary motor. then everyone says it cant handle or what else, i had to get somewhat defensive

If you even had an interest you would have read the forums - you sir are what I think is considered a troll looking for arguements and telling us all how great your Detroit Iron is. I think I will ask the Moderators to oversee your posts.

ws6transam 11-04-2007 08:01 PM

not really a big detroit iron fan, just wanted to know how to mod these motors

If your really interested, read a few of the forums already started - then if your questions are not answered there, you can ask your questions of any that you see posting. We are a friendly group that will not flame you unless deserved. A good place to start would be "After Market Performance"

oh wow, tell us something we don't know. of course, the majority of us on here do REAL racing, as opposed to drag racing that only requires shifting and concentrating on the christmas tree. you can strip 2000lbs from your car and it would still handle like shit. and i'm not ignorant about the ws6 because that was the car i learned everything about mechanics on in my auto technology courses.

AK83 11-04-2007 08:28 PM

I'm still a F-Body fan, I use to own a few Pontiacs and was with the gmeternal.com car club here in SoCal when I owned them. I still love Pontiacs, don't get me wrong, your WS6 is great, but what's the point of coming to these forums and saying:

I'm not sure if you haven't noticed, but your WS6 has a solid rear axle and the suspension points are optimized for drags and not corners. For handling, cars isn't just about horsepower and weight, there are things called suspension components and the way the manufacturers place them for optimized camber/toe capabilities.

It's like someone with a twin-turbo 350Z going to your Trans Am forums and saying how the VQ can be better tuned than a LS1, whether that is fact or not you know the Trans Am guys are gonna jump on him.

Keep the questions about RX-8 or even better, do a search, there's a whole technical section with aftermarket mods you can search through.
