I have a few minor blemeshes on my 8. They are not really big enough to be called dents. Any normal person can't see them but I do when I wash my car. I would like to pull them out but it doesn't make sense to pay someone $50-$70 a dent, to pull out something so small. So I am considering buying one of those dent pullers and doing it myself.

Does anyone have any experience pulling out their own dents? Was it easy to do?

 

last time i heard those dent puller can really make a bigger mess than the fix. they pull the dent with your paint and primer too, so be carefull. i rather pay 50-70 a dent and have someone to complaint to than pay 50 for the puller and make a 300 damage

 

Yes, those dent pullers can make a big mess on your car. If you dont want to pay someone to make paintless dent removal, be ready to go through a lot of trouble.

doing it yourself (the way the profesionals do) involves:
Removing the inside pannels (for doors, trunk, hood or rear quarter pannels)
or removing the fenders for the front. and pushing from the other side with small tools (like a small RUBBER hammer and plastic or rubber covered sticks).
It can be tricky and you HAVE to work slow and small. If you over do it then you will end up with an inverted dent which will be harder to fix.

All in all it's not impossible. You just have to have the time, patiece, manual skills, patience, patience. to do it.

I'm actually considering doing it myself. If I do I'll post a DIY.

 

I have 2 dents now from parking lot idiots - even though I have tried to stay clear of them. I'm having a professional do it. I would NOT do this yourself. Mine are small also, but my buddy sees them and always points them out to me

 

Yes, this is best left to professionals. If they are truly minor and barely perceptible, then then they may not worth messing with, as my experience with paintless dent removal is that the result is not 100% perfect, but much better than paintwork. That said, I have done this myself on my wife's Honda on a small metal trim panel under the tail light that was removable, but you have to know what you are doing and do it gradually, or you will make it worse. My repair made it look just as good as the pros, I think, but only because thepanel was removable. The pros are worth the money. And parking in the back of the parking lot is worth far more. And "NEVER" park next to brand new really expensive cars thinking you are safe. These drivers are just as oblivious as the careless ones at times. I would never park next to any car that older drivers use, regardless of condition.

 

If they are little dents like door ripples, about the size of your thumb forget about doing it yourself. If they are bigger like someone leaned against a fender and it has a big dent with no hard edge, the DIY dent pullers will work great.

 

leave it to the professionals. I spent 99 bucks to get a small dimple pulled out thanks to some dumb kid. When it was done it looked flawless! Like it never happened. Mine was on my right side read door. I carefully watched how he did it. Im gonna try practicing on my junker honda crx for practice but if it's something you really care about, leave it up to the professionals

 

I bought one of those "As seen on TV" Ding Kings when my Acura got caught in a Texas hail storm and I couldn't get a single dent to completely disappear. I did make some large dings into small dings but everything was still noticeable. I paid a professional to do it and my car looked brand spanking new when they were finished. Be sure to hire one that actually will take the time to remove panels instead of drilling holes or cutting thru fabric to stick their tools thru for access to the dent. If it were me, I would leave the dings because once you get them fixed a moron will give you a new one.

 

Forget the DIY repairs. Like it's been said... you're asking for trouble. Had a fender ding removed by a pro...$85 cuz he had to remove some stuff to get to the area. Flawless repair, cannot tell where it happened.
