I doubt the pads need to be replaced because of wear...there is a service bulletin for "squeeky brakes"...the dealership should replace them under warranty.

I replaced mine at 15000miles, i took my car to Browning Mazda, told them about the TSB, and the lady working there said my mileage was over so warranty doesn't apply. So I had my gf print out the TSB, bring it over to me, she looked at it and she said she'd need to have it checked out and STILL won't get me a loaner car. She was a service manager too. So finally, the other service manager came and finally got everything settled and helped me out. But I was late for work. SO REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR TSB!!!

My lady's at 3216 miles now. I'll have to schedule to take it to Browning Mazda as well. My brakes are squeeling already. It sounds like it's from the rear wheels though. Also need to have my first oil change at the same time. Hope the service is better than the customer service.

Check the brake squeal indicator (a little "h" shaped piece of metal) on the passenger side INNER brake pad. New pad is 6 mm thick. To the best of my memory, the indicator will begin to squeal when the pad is down to 2 mm.

Still, I don't think your squeal is from the indicator, but it's easy to verify regardless.

What, do you have an airbrake kit or something???

Personally I'd take the opportunity to upgrade to better pads, like EBC RedStuff or something along those lines. Love 'em on my big heavy VW.

I live for the sound of a caliper piston welding itself into the rotor under hard braking.

Who needs pads.
