How do you feel about the MPG issue?

I'm wondering what current RX-8 owners think of the MPG issue.

It seems like there are two camps:

1) I don't care! It's a sports car, and I love it!

OR

2) I may like the car, but sometimes the MPG issue irks me.

Which one are you? (I know it may be more complex than just those two, but just pick the one you're closest to.)

I don't know what the big deal is. I average anywhere from 18 to a high of 22MPG per tank which is acceptable to me. Heck, I was driving a Chevy 2500HD before this and it got 12 on the highway!

I've got over 3000 miles now, and my car seems to be settling in around 18 mpg. I had hoped it would keep climbing, but now I don't know. It's disappointing, and to me the only drawback of the '8, but 18 mpg is about the minimum that I can keep the car with good conscience. When I was getting 16, I was definitely leaning towards returning the car, but no longer.
