How is the aluminum door sill option different?

I know the aluminum door sills w/ rotary emblem are an option, but what is there to begin with? If there's already a nice sill panel, I'll skip the extra $270... but if it's blank (ie just body color), I think the aluminum sill would be a nice touch.

Anyone have pictures to compare the two? Thanks...

Might be all plastic (someone confirm this that already has the car). Small section has RX-8 emblem. Here is the stock door sill (scuff plate):

So basically the upgrade is aluminum all the way along rather than black plastic with small aluminum (or aluminum look) RX-8 logo piece? Guess I'll have to mull that one over a bit. I added navigation so I'm trying to cut down on the other goodies to keep the price near what it was pre-navigation.

Stock is plastic well-faked to look like aluminum. I was going to get the upgrade but now I don't think its worth it, at least right away. If the stock plastic gets torn up later on then maybe it'll be worth the add-on to spruce it up again.

ggreen29,

Thanks. That's what I suspected, but wasn't positively sure. Although it doesn't look bad, I opted for the aluminum scuff plate instead. Bought it last week, and will have the dealer install it when they get the car in the next week or so.
