Question How accurate are anticipated delivery dates?

As my delivery date is approaching I am getting more and more excited and simply can't rest. My car's anticipated delivery is the 4th week of October. I wonder what your experiences are with projected delviery dates. Are they accurate now after the initial hick-up and long delays? Can I expect the car sooner than what is Mazda's anticipation? Or later?

I know this is not that contructive of a post but (like everybody else still waiting for their 8's on this forum) I would like to find out one way or another when my baby arrives.

Thanks for any input!
Erik

edit: My car is at port and needs rear spoiler only.

mine was over a week late, which really irritated me because instead of it arriving right before i left for school, i had to drive home (220 miles) and get my 8 and then drive back to school 3 days later.

I hate to scare you, but.. I bought mine "off the lot" and ordered splash guards and a factory spoiler. I took delivery on August 8th and they told me yesterday my spoiler is still in limbo - no confirmed delivery date. For your sake, I hope they give ordered cars priority on the spoiler. I'm about to go to spoilerdepot.com - they say 5-7 days for delivery! Also, another post here has pics and testimonials about quality.

Good Luck!

Got a call yesterday that my car is supposed to be here today. That's about two weeks passed the ETA that Mazda quoted me. It is an ESTIMATED time of arrival, and the car is still within the envelope that I expected it.

My car's ETA was 9/30. As of now, still no news from the dealer.

My car was supposed to be delivered during the first week of Sept. The monday after that delivery week was missed, the date got moved back to the third week of Sept. and that week the car arrived. It is tough to wait, but so far the car is well worth the wait. Good luck and I hope your car gets to you ASAP. It is frustrating that unsold cars are getting to the lots before presold ones.

You're tellin' me! My car has yet to arrive. I called the salesman today because he said that the car was due to arrive yesterday, and that it was literally on a truck from Newark to their dealership. He got this info from his owner who got it directly from the port in Newark. It didn't come. Newark swears that they shipped it. We are all a little curious precisely where it is at the moment, but it's this sort of thing that makes life interesting. (And probably why I am drinking scotch and smoking cigars right now).

They also swore that they shipped it last week when they actually shipped an unallocated dealer car that was the same color. That's what set the dealership off, unspurred by me, to call every d**n day until they get my car. The dealers, at least mine, seems very interested in actually making delivery of pre-ordered cars, and they've been quite good with me.

What dealer did you order from? I ordered from Brandywine Mazda in West Chester, and they've been pretty good with me.

Haze, I used Hamilton Mazda. They are a bit north of Trenton. I have a contact at the dealership, that is why I went so far. I thought they were great. I bought the car at sticker, no markup, they took care of all of the paperwork that was needed for the rebate and service (Mazda didn't have my info and it was up against the time deadline). And they genuinely seemed as frustrated with the delivery of unsold cars before presold as I was. I found them to be good people.

Cool

Hi Guys,

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I exchanged e-mails with RX8orders and my delivery date had changed from the 4th week of October to the Oct 15th. That is tomorrow!!! It also shows car has shipped out of Tacoma (I'm in Minneapolis). So do you guys think I really get my car tomorrow? I can't believe it ! ))

I'd say you've got about an 80% chance of getting it tomorrow, but if it doesn't actually come tomorrow, it will be soon.

Congrats!!!, that's great. I was very happy when I got behind the wheel of my new 8, and I can honestly say that I have never been more comfortable driving a new car in my life. Enjoy it! What did ya' get . . . colour, options, that sort of thing?

Thanks Haze!

I got the following:

Nordic Green - Black/Chapparal
6 spd, Grand Touring, Navigation, Rotary Accents, Rear spoiler

Have the parts and will install myself:
Exhaust finishers, shock sensor, night lights, mirror lights (just blue LEDs mounted under the side mirrors), aluminum power window switches, Sirius radio

Will get clear markers, too.

TRICKYYYYYY !!

I love the idea of the rotary accents on the Nordic green. That should look really sweet. I also wish I could have had leather, but I was pretty adamant not to get the DCS/TC system, and any leather put on the car when I ordered meant that I had to have the system. Oh well for me, but that sounds like a great car. Enjoy it when you get it -

My purchasing experience went something like this....

1) Fell in love with the 8
2) Went to www.mazdausa.com
3) Located the 8 that I wanted at a nearby dealer
4) Drove to dealership
5) Drove off with my 8

With all of the 8's on dealer lots, why is anyone waiting for a delivery?

allstate,

I am waiting for my delivery because there is no other 8 matching my specifications. See my configuration a couple of post earlier.
I searched the inventory and only found two matches both of them being my orders. (I order one then canceled my order and went to another dealer for different reasons)

Oh, I went with the yellow. I have this thing about not buying metallic paints. It's totally a personal hang up, but I really don't like them so my options were limited. Pretty much black or yellow, but to be honest when I was thinking about a new car a couple of years back yellow and green were at the top of my list, not really thinking of the nordic green more of a british racing green but perhaps a little brighter. I am very happy with the yellow. Everyone I show the car to goes through an initial look of shock, then they grow to more than accept it, but actually love it. I love it. It sings to me as I'm walking to and from the car. It's just pretty.

However, I applaud your choice for Nordic green. First, I think that it will turn out to be a real sleeper color as I have seen very few ordered in the inventories in my area. Second, it will show off the chrome trim very very well which is great. Third, it's less likely to catch the eye of police. Fourth and last it has real character and depth. I did give it a long thought, and if metallics were all that I could get then I probably would have gotten it. Post pics when you get it. I doubt if anyone else has one speced the way with you do in the nordic green and with the spoiler. Nice job -

Erik,

Yeah, your 8 is pretty customized. It will definately be worth the wait though. When I called to order my 8 (back in July) they told me I wouldn't get one until December. I went online and found the exact car at another dealership. It was a first allocation that someone backed out of.

GOT MY 8!

Guys,

I drove my 8 home last night: a day before the projected delivery date.

I am having a blast driving it. It had 7 miles on it out of the dealership. That is my favourite number, by the way.

I still have to install exhaust finishers, night lights, mirror lights, sirius radio, aldehyd filter, aluminum power window switches, shock sensor. I'll do these myself.

Thanks to everyone for the encouraging posts in the past three months.

Mine came in just as predicted....but it did not have any port installed options which might delay some when the port is backed up

Hi guys,

I 2 am awaitng my 8. Have my VIN# (Pulled teeth to get it) and am wondering: Other than calling the dealer, is there away for me to track and or get an ETA on when I might get the car?

At the time of my order/deposit in July, Iwas told late Oct/early Nov.

Thanks,

Claude H.
