I bought a new battery for my 8 today because the battery light cut on and I took it to auto zone and they said I needed a new one. My dad was changing the battery but when he put in the new one and connected the positive the horn started to honk. Does anyone know how to stop it?

Are the lights flashing too? Maybe the alarm is armed and set off.

 

This is going to sound really stupid but we but the positive and negative on the wrong side. I think my car was trying to tell me to stop. I cut the switch on and burned the main fuse. It was a pain to change it but my car is good now. Thanks anyway

 

I really, really have NO freaking idea how could people even put the wrong terminal on this car ...

unless ... only 1 condition ... Autozone sold u the wrong battery ... which happens all freaking time.

 

you can not.
however you can swith the battery to opposite side and connect it up that way.

 

How the hell...stupidity i guess.
