No it is not fixable, it is definitely totaled.. but just figured including the info that the estimate was 10k might help people get an idea of what this damage costs.

That sucks. I hit a six point near Corpus Christi years ago. Luckily it was in an SUV, came up on the hood and over the roof, thought it was coming through the windshield.
They are a real common problem around here (KC).
One of my biggest fears, I try to keep an eye out for them, but when they come running out, there's not a lot you can do.
Are you getting another 8?

To answer what I'm going to get next, Im not sure yet. My new living situation will have me commuting a 2 lane mountain highway on most weekends, and while in the summer would be a blast in the 8, I need something that can do it in the winter. I currently have a subaru outback that I purchased to take care of that and so that I could keep the 8, but at this point I might just take the insurance money and the outback and go get myself a new xv crosstrek. They def wont be as sporty as the 8 but they can have fun in a completely different way hah.

Wouldn't he be taking a pretty huge loss buying it back? I don't know what the insurance company would ask for it but if it is branded as rebuilt/totaled then he would have a really difficult time selling it later on. I think it would be pretty much just pissing money away.

If this car was in my country, then it would be probably repaired. It looks like it's got no mechanical damage; the engine must be ok.
All the panels (door, hood, front side panel and bumper) would be corrected. The most expensive parts would be the headlight, side mirror and the windscreen.
