Highest AVG Miles Driven....ME?
According to my calculations......
I bought my Rx8 on Feb 1, 2004 - which means I've had it for a little more than 4 months or specifically 129 days.
My odometer is showing 11,901 miles as of 5 minutes ago.
11, 901 miles / 129 days = 92.25 miles per day! (averaged of course). I must love this car more than I thought!! I know I drive a lot, but averaging almost 100 miles a day is rather absurd...
Here's the depressing part: I've consistently averaged between 200-250 miles per tank depending on driving style and conditions, and have paid between $25-$30 dollars per fill-up over this period:
Low Cost Calculation - 250 miles per tank (high mpg) out of 12,000 total miles = 48 fill ups. 48 x $25 (lowest price per fill-up) = $1200
High Cost Calculation - 200 miles per tank (low mpg) out of 12,000 total miles = 60 Fill-ups. 60 x $30 (highest price per fill-up) = $1800
These are just informal calculations, but with my current rate of driving, it seems I've spent between $1,200 - $1,800 in 4 months on gas alone! Ouch. Putting it into perspective hurts.
So about 12,000 miles driven in about 4 months...at this rate, I'll have 36,000 miles in a year! I'm glad I decided to purchase the extended warranty (7 years or 100,00 miles), because I'll reach 100,000 miles in 3 years with my current rate of driving.
Perhaps I'll be one of the first Rx8 owners who actually reaches 6 digits...I see a case study on the extended reliability of the Renesis engine fast approaching. Does anyone drive more than I do?

My wife will probably average 600 miles a week when school starts back up. She's a teacher with a long commute.
We bit the bullet and got the extended warranty from Mazda. 5yrs 100,000 miles.

My BEST tank was about 210 miles. Try driving for 180 and then have to fill up... THAT'S depressing.
BTW, do you own an auto or 6spd?

depressing... try this one on for size.. my worst tank of gas ever was 153 miles! thats from topp'd off to red light gas warning.. yielding just over 11 mpg.... my best tank of gas ever is the tank im using right now. i may set my personal record. i have 165 miles and i have yet to hit the bottom 1/4th of the tank. im so happy im about to crapola in my pants... i could maybe... just maybe have my first tank ever to reach above 230 miles on a completely full tank... possibly achieving 17 mpg!!! a personal best in the 4 months of ownership....

I have 16,000 miles since November. I have taken a few long trips (cross country - 4000 miles) that have accounted for a good portion of that mileage.
My worse tank so far has been around 120 miles. :D (on the track)

4200 miles since Nov. 20th.......and now with gas prices like they are I don't drive it at all during the week. Just on weekends. I ride my bike to work, it's only 3 miles round trip. I also am getting some exercise and savin some money. So I'll average maybe 30 miles a weekend....that's 720 more miles from now to my 1 year anniversary with the car....Going to meets, and drift events and stuff, I'll say I'd add an extra 1000 miles on top of that....I don't think I could own this car if I had to put 90+ miles a week.....that would kill me in gas prices..I can barely afford it now....

I bought my car on March 23rd, and now have 7800 miles on it. 78 days about.... seems to be about 100 miles a day :-P
I never figured out what the other averges were? am I close?
edit:
( DID take a week off on a business trip... so, that would be 111 miles per day... right?)

Since the Rx8 was released as a 2004 model in the later part of 2003, I doubt anyone is approaching a benchmark figure, miles wise just yet; the reliability of the Renesis in the long term has yet to be seen. From what I understand, the rotary - when one doesn't apply forced induction - is supposed to be very reliable, and the Renesis is the most efficient model yet. Try running a search on "reliability." There are numerous threads on the topic already.

So far, it seems as 100 or so miles (average) is on the high end. I thought I was alone...:p I bought my car on Feb 1, 04 and I have about 12,000 miles. Which puts me at around 100 miles a day as well.
