High Rev Beep

Hi Ive searched the forums and couldnt find the answer - so here is another question!

While test driving yesterday I took the revs to the max - but no warning beep :@(

Is this usual with the UK cars, or has anyone in the UK heard the beep?

Please dont say this is just the US that have it

I WANT BEEP IN MY CAR!!

no they all have it. it is quite quiet (radio off, windows up, not talking), and it's more of a high pitched electronic tone than a "beep".

try it when merging onto the freeway (in 1st or 2nd gear), and you'll hear it. 8500rpm and up.

beep...BEEEP!

It is fairly easy to get at, the buzzer is mounted on the back of the gauges.

I tried to run wires out to an aux buzzer (Sonalert) with no luck, the signal is weak, it is grounded to produce tone, and if you ground it yourself it buzzes all the time.

It would take an electronic-type-guy to come up with some kind of relay circuit - way beyond my pitiful skills........(but I WOULD buy one - hint, hint!) :p

you could go to Radio shack buy a small lapel mic and tape it to the buzzer. then run the mic into your drivers side speaker. this will take a little work but that way you could have your own volum **** to.. However.. its not really that important. the rev limiter kicks in at around 9k so you cant over rev it. Once you learn the shifting curve the silly shift chime will annoy you
