hello all iam going to get a Rx-8 soon and was wondering if anyone could tell me the model differences between the 231bhp and the 192bhp model. just so i can be sure i know what iam getting (231bhp hopefully :P) as i cant actually tell what the differences are! thanks alot guys and gals. jamie. p.s iam from the U.K.

 

The A/T is the low one and the M/T is the higher one.....

 

not always. they have a 5spd mt across the pond thats 192. the 6spd mt is 231. the early 04-05 auto 4 ports 4spd were192 not sure what the 06+ auto 6 port puts out

 

The sales sticker from my 10 R3 6sp says 232 hp

 

There's an optional 5spd manual 4port available in the UK as well (192bhp)

If you're buying an 8, make sure you get the 6port Renesis.
Even if you decide to get an automatic, it's still a huge improvement than the 4port autos.

 

Without having the 5spd over here in the US, I'm not sure that I would be able to point out a difference to you other than "look at the shifter". If it's a 6 speed manual, I believe it has to be the 6 port 232hp version.

However, I stress that I am not sure about this, as I haven't done some digging into the variations. Getting the VIN and calling Mazda UK is possibly your only for-sure option.
