Fun car
I have had mine for about 5 months and have 6K on it. I have enjoyed every minute. It gets a lot of looks on the street and comments in the parking lots. I owned an RX-7 in the 80s and was glad when they introduced the 8. I will have to say, though, that I do miss my truck that I traded for the 8. Pretty hard to throw a bunch of stuff in the back of the 8!

Don't buy one if you're serious about sheer driving enjoyment.
It doesn't handle well since all its power and torque is produced down low.
The engine is a 1.3L 2Cyl and it only revs to 4500rpm.
Fuel consumption is fantastic though, almost comparable to a Prius.
Not very practical either, tight fit and only seating for two adults.
Extremely expensive to buy as well, get a Lamborghini for the same dough.
Oh yeah, it's not even as good looking as a Prius.
.....sorry for being a smart ****, it's just been that sort of day and I couldn't help myself.
Seriously, the 8's the best sports car on the market, pound for pound.
100000 owners can't be wrong, can they?

Don't do it! Resist! Resist!
Otherwise you'll find yourself constantly obsessing about when you can drive again... which route to take lets you shift the most... where the concrete-walled bridges are (the echo of 9,000 rpms bouncing back)...
It's a terrible addiction. There really should be a warning label on the hood.

I have to echo HeelnToe's sentiments. You might also like to watch this video (UK TV Top Gear Review of the RX8):

It's large and needs a broadband connection but well worth the minutes it takes.

I was driving a Volvo Cross-Country and I was worried that I would miss it (it was a very nice car). Now I find myself wanting to drive my RX-8 constantly and I wonder why I didn't buy one sooner.

I plan on it. I need help though. I really like the blue, black, and silver. I can't decide. I hear the black tends to get spider swirls in the paint and the blue shines up nice and i also like the silver. The downside to the blue I like the 2 tone red/back int. any suggestion or am is my decision too screwed up.

If you enjoy driving, not riding buy an 8. You are connected to this car.
An 8 looks great in all its colors. That said ... mine Red w/red & black leather.
Welcome!

Welcome, police34! Similar to Gonzo, I had an SUV before I got my 8 two months ago, so I miss all the space, but this car is just fun as heck to drive--I'm almost at 5,000 miles already! Get used to the looks and the compliments, too. We promise you'll get them when you're pumping gas, when you're at a red light, when you're in the parking lot... I've never experienced anything like it before with any other car.
Plus, You've picked a good time to consider getting an 8. I hear prices on the '04s are going down since the '05s are coming in (with no significant changes, might I add), so have fun with your future ride!

YOU ARE POWERLESS. THE CULT'S WILL DRAW YOU IN. THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO RESIST!
Sorry, that's all the creativity I have in me today.
Buy it, you won't be sorry.

Welcome, police34, I've had mine for 1.5 months and I love it! I'm sure you'll enjoy it as well, it's just too fun to drive. This place is awesome, I've never seen such a loyal owner/support base for any other car.
Watch your foot on the pedal - I had to get a radar detector to help myself know when to blend in with the rest of the traffic! This thing is not a muscle car, but it gets up and moves nicely.
I think all the colors look good, I've heard just about any black will be higher maintenance since they show imperfections much more easily. That said, the blacks I've seen at a meet sure did look sweet.
I REALLY like the red/black leather in my Titanium Grey - would definitely pick it again.
