Talking Hi All. New to RX-8

Just wanted to say thanks for all the info and help in deciding to get this car. I test drove new Vette, Mustang Cobra SVT, WRX, BMW Z3, Boxter, (I may be forgetting some) before buying the RX-8. It isn't the fastest or the quickest of the bunch, but by far the most fun to drive in many ways.

I'll be around.

Tbone

That's a nice list that the 8 beat out? Was price an issue?

price

Price wasn't so much the issue. The new vette was discounted to 40k, the mustang was used (2k miles) and asking 29900, the BMW was 23, so the Mazda was right in the middle. I wasn't about to dump 50K or more into a car, but my wife told me if I got rid of my street bikes, I could get the corvette I'd always wanted. All of my life I have wanted a vette, and when the 99 body style came out I had to have one. However, after test driving them, I returned to the Mazda. Don't get me wrong, those other cars were nice, but the RX had the combination of looks, handling, performance, and high revving engine (like my bikes, I guess) that won me over.

I would have got the corvette. New springs, cam and valvetrain and you can rev it high no problem. Congrats on the purchase.

Well said, and I think you will obviously find that most here agree with you!

I couldn't believe how crappy the interior was in the 04 Corvette compared to the RX-8. Just horrible.

There's no getting around the fact that the Corvette shares the parts bin with the Maibu and the Cavalier.
