Hi all, new to RX-8

Just purchased a beautiful 2004 velocity red. So far I love the car, it handles great, and isn't bad in a line. It's all stock except a k&n drop-in, axle-back, Tsw Thurxton 20x.8.5 wheels, and 245/35ZR20 XL Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position's.

Probably going to keep it stock inside, maybe some minor cosmetics and a nice stereo.

Congrats!
Recommend clear corners for looks and the AFE short shifter for enjoyment.

Lookin' good. Lose the 20" boat anchors and it'll go a lot faster.

I saw the clear corners on some vendor site and really like them. Definitely the first cosmetic mod. I am not a fan of short shifters, the throw already feels super short, can't imagine I would want it any shorter.

For sure, I love drives. I go on drives with the Subie people a lot in my SRT

They came with the car. I think I'm going to see if I can find someone who wants to trade them for a good set of 18's, might be able to put some $$ in the trade too. Tires are in great shape, almost no treadwear.

You're lucky.

I've heard of this theory before, but I never thought that Suby and SRT-4 drivers would willingly share the same road.

would be what I'm guessing he was getting at.

If I had any extra money, I'd take those wheels off your hands, I like the way they look, surprisingly.

Oh I know what it means. I was indirectly seeing what checksum does for a living

beautiful pic. really nice shine on it too. looks like it was just professionally detailed.

lose those 20s, the rolling diameter is huge and the weight makes it worse. you'll get far better acceleration out of 18s. acceleration isnt a strong point in the rx8, and thats really killing it. it wont do 11s like your srt-4. but if you scroll down the main page you'll find a thread that shows it'll do mid 14s stock.

They are really nice and super sticky. Dry with the tcs off I have to actually try to loose traction. From what I can find the only downfall to them is the pricetag at around 300 a tire (mounted and balanced on my rims) I am sure the 18 would be a bit cheaper but still pretty spendy compared to other similar tires.

Thank you, It was sunny out so I decided to see how shiny it would get. The lot we got it from doesn't detail their cars so it was pretty dirty. The only visual blemishes are a small dent in the drivers door (you can see it in that pic if you look), some minor scratching around the front facia, and egg marks on the drivers door. Who would egg a beautiful car like that? haters. The egg marks arn't bad, and most of the other scratches came out with some minor polishing.

Also the front lip needs some repair, it's cracked and the tape holding it on is coming off. I may just get a sybon cf lip and call it a day.

Also, those wheels/tires are up for trade if anyone wants them. Make me an offer.

yeah, just mathing out the hp/weight ratio the car should run a mid 14 pretty easily with a nice launch. I probably won't run it much at the strip but it would be fun to find out what it can do. Hopefully next Saturday it isn't raining. The neon is down atm getting tranny work so running the rx-8 would be fun.
