NOPE!..........But there is a small cutout in the shape of the 'would be' light. It feels as though you could just push it out. Its obvious that the mirror was designed for it.....but where is it?
I will post a pic

The light is standard in the euro version. Maybe you can get it as an option?

Greetings

I thought the lighted entry mirror was standard on the Grand Touring model, not the other two (Sport & Touring).

Wish they were on there. The Volvo S60 T5 I had, had those exterior lights on them. I found them very handy both from a safety standpoint, to convenience. It made it easier to find the car in a parking lot at night.

Nope. I got the GT and just went out and looked. Got a black plastic plug in the mirror.

I'm disappointed that it doesn't have it.

Someone, go pop the black plastic plug, and see if the wiring harness is there. If it is, then I'll go ahead and order it from an overseas Mazda parts source and install the damn thing myself. (lamp and light fixture). :D

It is turned on for 10 seconds after door closing.
On my experience
I think, That is not helping to finding a car, Since the light is switched on at the time of closing of a door.

Well as a safety feature it allows you to see if anyone is crouched near or underneath the car at night. But my Volvo had a button on the fob so you could activate them remotely. If all they do on the RX is stay on when you close the door, then they'd have less use.

This feature is actually very useful, if your parked agaist a curb at night and there isn't sufficant lighting. It lights up the curb area, and your passenger knows where to step so they don't end up breaking an ankel.

It's also great for exiting the car also.. You don't know where or what your steping on at night... But if it's all lit up it's great..

I noticed that also, and I have the GT - just rubber plugs. I wonder if the "night lights" accessory includes that. I know it includes the interior lights under where you put your feet, but I wonder if maybe it includes those exterior lights as well.

I have the night light kit at home. I didn't look at it too closely yet, but I'll check it out tonight. I'm pretty sure it just had 2 lights in it and didn't say anything about the mirrors

So far I count the following missing from the USA standard packages (in order of discovery):

1. 6CD changer (in dash) with BOSE packages - now a $500 accessory
2. Auto climate control - not available at all from Mazda USA
3. Lighted entry door mirrors - not available at all from Mazda USA

Anything I've missed?

I think the reason being, is so they have something to add to next years model. Look the 2005 models have lighting under the mirrors, along with auto climate control, and rear fog light...
