Smile Hey Guys, need a little help

Hey I'm new here. I have a 2004 Mazda RX8 w/ 52000 miles. Recently the Check Engine light came on and when I checked it out, it says O2 sensor bank 1. The sensor is almost $200 bucks....b4 I do that, could I just try taking the sensor out and cleaning it? Where is the sensor located at? Also the air bag light keeps flashing, is there a way to reset that? The driver air bag was replaced due to an accident. Also how do I reset the TRIP COMPUTER , I wanna see how many miles per gallon I'm doing. Thanks alot!

the trip computer can be reset by just holding the trip stick down for few seconds until it resets. For your other problem, i don't know how to help. You might have to change the module for the airbag to get rid of the light. I assume you replaced it with a used airbag? If the airbag sensor lights up that means there is no guarantee that the airbag will deploy in an accident.

The owner's manual is your friend.

Press and hold the odometer (or trip meter as its mentioned in the manual) button for more than 1sec to reset it.
Hey Guys, need a little help-odometer.jpg

The air bag light has been a known issue.
There are connectors under the seats that you disconnect and then reconnect... seems to work most of the time unless you have another issue.
Do a search for this if you want to learn more and find pics.

The O2 sensor code could be the cat failing (assuming its the rear O2 sensor failing).
We would need more details on this (and the exact code too).

P0032 is for the front O2 sensor and is located on the exhaust manifold.

Thanks for your help. So I would have to get under the car to get to it? Do you know any cleaning solution that I could use to clean the O2 sesor once I take it off? Or what can you advise me. should I just buy new one? Thanks again

Yes... you'll need to get under the car to reach the O2 sensor.

Usually the first thing to try is resetting the PCM in hopes that it doesn't return.
1) Turn the key to the 'ON' position (do not start the car).
2) Pump the brake pedal rapidly 20x.
3) You'll see the oil pressure gauge sweep half-way and back down.
4) You can stop pumping at this point and turn the key to the 'OFF' position.
5) Start the car.

If the code returns, you'll need to remove the sensor.
If you take the sensor out and its caked with carbon deposits, you can try a blow torch to break the carbons free, then dip it in water to cool it off.
After that, use compressed air to blow out the remaining particles.
If the sensor appears OK, you might need to replace it.
