Unhappy helpppppp please

Hi, please help me, I was driving my rx8 and suddently the car lost power, immediately the yellow engine light start flashing, after that it died. The car was able to start but at 500 rph and as soon you press gas it dies. I spend $85 on new plugs thinking it was that and changed. The old plugs smell like gas. With the new spark plugs the car still bad and smell gas. On the mufle you can see the smoke. The car has not garranty, over 4 years but only have 26000 miles. I looked for any loose hose, etc and nothing. It;s like is not getting air, it's not burning the gas. Is not mixing correctly, I disconnect the battery to reset but nothing. I can't even get the car to an autozone to check the code, but I was wondering if anybody had the exact same problem and can help me.

Thanks a lot

Autozone can read the trouble code off the computer - should give you major clues as to the problem.

Your current warranty is 5 years 60,000 miles. Take it to the dealer and tell them to fix it.
An Emissions related issue is warranted for 96 months or 80,000 miles.

Call the 800# in your cars manual. Mazda will tow it to your nearest dealer and fix it for you. You have a 5 year 60K warranty on the power train, that covers your engine, transmission and other things. Mazda extended it so they can help you. Don't try to do anything yourself.

Gas smell you say? Could be a fuel line or leak.

My guess is the coils. Let Mazda do the warranty repair, as was stated by others.

Sounds just like coils to me.

He might not have warranty. The world is not all in the US.
If he is some where else like in Australia, we have 3 years.

He's in Florida so he should be okay. Could be cat. could be coils, could also be in limp home mode.

Check your oil if you haven't recently to make sure it's not too low. If it's low on oil the car will go into limp mode.

Its the catalytic converter, though 26k miles seems a bit soon for that to be happening. In my old grand am I had the same thing happen, but it ended up being a cracked head :p
