Help. warning lights randomly turned on.

I made the mistake of letting my friend borrow my 8 for a date last night and when i got in it to drive today, i started the car and my traction control and abs lights were both lit up. So i immediately called my friend and was angry but he swore that he did not drive it hard. and i honestly cant even think of anything he could possible do to make both of those things cut out. the car drives perfectly fine except both of the systems do not work. I have done quite a few things to my brakes and suspension and Im wondering if a sensor could just have messed up or something. I was thinking about just resetting the ECU and see if the systems start working again. does that sound like a good idea or does anybody else have any other ideas for things to do before i start taking apart my suspension system trying to find out what is wrong. If anybody has any ideas please let me know.

Thanks

Moral of the story=don't let people borrow your car.

TCS and ABS lights on simultaenously most likely means that you've got a wheel speed sensor not sensing what's happening at the wheel it's on.

I'd start by looking for evidence that he went off the road - mud caked under the car is a good place to start. I'd also have a serious chat with him about it - let him know that either:

1) you're going to find out what he did by getting the car checked out and he'll be getting the bill for it.

or

2) He can come clean and be honest and you guys can work out some sort of fair settlement.

Good luck. But, again, most likely that there's a wheel speed sensor issue and the thing that makes those go south more than anything is debris from an off-road encounter.

i have already found out the problem. and there is no mud caked anywhere. ive had to tie back the harness before. i have a after market front end and took out the fog lights and the harness for the foglights is attached to the abs system harness. it just was hanging down and got caught up. besides im not that stupid that i cant tell if my car has been taken offroad or not.
