Help vibration?

hey there i just bought a 04 rx8 with 80,000km on it had it about a month now installed all LED replacement bulbs all around and smoked side markers and got the windows tinted have to take the tail and headlights out this weekend to smoke them with the kit i got but i also installed a simota carbon fiber intake and all went well with that but after i installed it i hear a high pitch sound when the hoods up or when you listen carefully is that because i couldnt hear it with the motor cover before?

Also i notice a small vibration almost rough idleish going on now any ideas? would it be a vacuum problem or would there be a leak in the intake boot?

please any help would be appreciated its kinda annoying when your sitting at a redlight or w,e and it idles fine that drops to about 500rpm than back up to 700 or 1000 whatever it may be cant remember off the top of my head haha

The idle drop to 500 rpm is not normal. Maybe you could try cleaning the MAF sensor with electronic contact cleaner and make sure you have the screen in front of the MAF sensor, removing the screens could cause idle issues.

Order a nice cold air intake kit and drop your sensor into it. Unless you want to fix the stock sytem. Read the sticky thread on How to clean MAF sensor and buy MAF sensor spray cleaner at Auto Parts store.

theres no screen on the MAF

hes talking about the screen between the airbox and the MAF tube. a metal one same diameter as the tube.
if you use an aftermaket intake, you need that screen to make the idle right.

not on the MAF itself its in the front of the MAF inside the intake tube

course yours being aftermarket and might not be designed for the rx8 doesnt have one.

I used to get the idle drops all the way down to 500 rpm's too! when i first got the car it would idle fine, but after a month of shifting at 2,700- 3K rpm's and not redlining it every other day. the idling problem became worse. so i starting shifting at 4k rpm's and redline at least 5 times a week and now it idles perfectly fine, haven't had a problem for about 8 months. so i'm just saying...you could be shifting to early or not enough redlining.

I shift at at least 4k every shift and usually run in 3rd gear around town and redline enough soo i dont think thats the problem also my intake didnt need to take that stock front off its not a cold air its a carbon fiber box replacement and now that i think about it i dont think that screen is in it where can i find a replacement screen for that?

Your problem is the crappy intake.

you have lost power and the noise is causing vibration.

Nothing wrong with your MAF

Do a search on intakes.
