Help. My Rx8 is in the shop for another engine.

So my car for the past couple month has having trouble starting when the engine is warm. Made it a real pain going to get gas. My dipstick was also milky looking. So i took it to a shop bout 6 months ago. They said my car was misfiring and that the resedue on my stick was normal. They replaced the coil pack and recommended me to put in new spark plugs. Well i just got these spark plugs bout 6 months prior after my engine flooded. So i just cleaned them...however the problem didnt go away. Have an extended warranty, paid $100 deductible.

Took it back a month later. Same place. They told me that they couldnt find anything wrong with it. Didnt charge me anything. Suggested that i take my cold air intake off.

killed a battery trying to start my rx8 up at a gas station 2 weeks ago and didnt even bother cutting off the engine when i pumped my gas.

Noticed my car has no to little compression.

So this past monday, i got pissed and took it to another shop which is about an hour away. The next day they told me that the engine is shot. They are going to replace it under Mazda's warranty but it will take 4-6 weeks. I asked about a loaner. They said they would look into it.

Called back the next day, they told me that all of their loaners are being loaned out and that they are trying to figure something out for me.

Now its thursday. I need a vehicle. Any suggestions? Can i get a car from Enterprise and have Mazda pay for it? Im going to call the shop back in the next hour..and let you know the details.

How exactly did you get mazda to honor their warranty with the work being done at a non-dealership shop? At least that is how I read your post.

05 with 52,000 miles. Mazda would not pay for the loaner since it was out of its original warranty that isnt covered with the extended warranty on the engines.

However the dealer i went to must of worked something out...as now im rocking out a 2010 Nissan Versa...sigh. at least its good on gas.

Glad it's working out for you, and glad the dealer somehow got you the rental car.
