HELP - Hood won't release

HELP - Hood won't release
Just got my first RX-8, (used - 05) brought her home and went to release the hood and it won't open... clicking noise but won't release. Any tricks or known problems?
Stupidity keeps me busy!!

No more fat chicks on the hood 
grab a pocket knife, very strong and thin. Wrap it in either a rubber glove(I work on an ambulance so I have a lot of these) or something soft and while someone is pulling the lever try to pry up on the hood. Don't dent anything but a pocket knife works well because they won't bend like a kitchen knife. Sometimes it's just stuck.
