HELP! Alarm goes off when I shut doors

I have a 2004 RX8 and have had it for about a year (bought used with about 19k miles on it). I had to take it back to the dealer a couple times to run updates and such and the car has been just sitting there through the winter and now I take it out for the spring and the alarm goes off every time I open or shut the door. I have to get out and press the panic button to turn it off. I actually locked the doors just so when I unlocked it the next time the alarm wouldn't go off and it even went off when I pressed the lock button on the keyless entry. Anyone else have this problem or know what's going on?

This isn't a common problem. It doesn't sound like a simple sensitivity adjustment to me - more like electric gremlins. I'd take it to the dealership...

Do you have an aftermarket alarm on it? I have an aftermarket alarm that fights with my factory one sometimes. I just have to be careful which keyless entry fob I use. (I ended up buying a flip key and only use the aftermarket alarm in rougher parts of town)

no its a factory alarm. the frustrating thing is that this happened once on sunday night and everything was fine until this morning when it did it again. i just tried it out this afternoon and there was no issue.

Have you ever replaced the battery? If not, that's most likely the cause.

Do you know if your alarm system has the shock sensors? I don't know much about how it works but if it didn't it would do what your car is doing.

i'm not sure but from what you're saying it sounds like it doesn't. it's a 2004 so if that's a factory part i guess there's a good chance it wouldn't (not much of a car guy i just the drive it lol).
