Have any late model 2005s Flooded?
Before your flame me, this is not just another flooding thread.
The 12/1/2005 "Engine cranks no start" TSB says that all three changes (battery, starter and plugs) were incorporated in production cars starting 3/22/2005. Dealerships imply that this "fixes" the flooding problem. However, Mazda still maintains that short trips should be avoided. So I am asking the following:
If your car's build date (see sticker on driver's door jamb) is 4/2005 or later please post here if your car has ever flooded (MT or AT). Please note your build date in your post and quick statement about how you got the car restarted.
Thank you!

5/2005 here, no flooding, had battery changed under warrenty though low amps, they put in a higher cranking battery , after that all runs great but never flooded...i still do not do shorts trips with no warm up, or I rev to 5k then shut off as the dealer and rx8.com has explained to do.

07/05 - no flooding issues.
Had a few times where I had to crank the key a little longer to get it to start though...Anyone think I might need a new battery??
NEVER any short trips, I always let it warm before shutting down.

stop flooding ur engines
even after the revisions we do with the battery, plugs, and starter, the cars can still flood. a 2006 will flood if you shut it off cold. its the design of the engines and u can only reduce the chance but not solve it. revision or not, they can still flood. let it warm up all the way and youll be fine!

04/2005 Build Date
Manual Transmission
No Floods. The only time I had a cold shutdown was early on when I stalled it. I needed to relearn how to drive a stick after 10 years driving an automatic. It started up again with no problem.

I've got an '05 M/T 8 and i haven't had any problems with the car flooding, or hard starts... I even accidently shut the car off in the middle of winter, when it was snowing out and it was freezing cold, next morning it started fine.

This post has been active a week and not one report of a 2005 build after 3/22/2005 being flooded. Definitely a good sign. Unfortunately you can't prove a negative result.

FYI - It has been over two weeks. The only report to date of a flooded late model '05 came on another forum: wife backed it out of the garage and turned it off. While it did not immediately start the next day, it ultimately did start on its own but he ended up with a CEL so he had to go to the dealer anyway.

Shock and Awe
I think this whole flooding thing is like a UFO sighting. I have an 8 with an Aug 03 build date, purchased it 2 weeks after the build date, and have never come close to flooding the thing.
