Has anyone got a delivery date, test drive yet? Miles on new car? Dealer games . . .

I got the spiffy, 'we have your order e-mail.' Does anyone have additional info?

My local sales contact has ignored my e-mails on additional delivery info and on how many miles I can expect on "my" new RX-8, break-in concerns etc.

While I LOVE their vehicles, Mazda dealers sure are NOT building my excitement about the car--which makes it a bit harder to write them a check when I've got two good, though less hip, paid off cars.

I don't expect 'em to kiss my booty, but a sales follow-up's no skin off their back for a cool 31,000.

Of course, this is the SAME dealer who tried to rip me off after making a solid deal on our Miata by changing the numbers at the moment of sign-off on our paperwork at the final minutes of the purchase--TWICE.

It'll be easy for everyone in LOVE with the new RX to get taken. Watch your back and bring your calculator.

quit the emails and go see them in person. it's harder to ignore someone who is standing right in front of you

In-person vs. e-mail

I don't disagree that visting in-person will pin 'em down. But, as a paying customer, with the $500 order and likely 30,500 coming later, I shouldn't have to pin 'em down.

They'll be making serveral thousand on the deal.

I work for a company that's big into customer service and responsiveness. It's buggy that they can't life a finger to reply.

I suppose the car-biz is ALWAYS still the car-biz.

Then why go back to the same dealer? Vote with your checkbook.

They're local and the only dealer offering MSRP no markup

They're local and were the only dealer I found in the L.A. area offering MSRP no markup. I'd love to know if there are others, though wouldn't I lose my pre-order status?

Or, could it simple be assigned another dealership?
