Thumbs up Happy Owner in Buffalo / Break-in Procedures

Just picked up my new RX-8 in Columbus OH yesterday and drove her back to Buffalo. A most enjoyable drive - weather was great!

I'm following the break-in procedures from this site:

https://www.racingbeat.com/RX8%20Break%20in.htm

...even though keeping her under 4000 RPM requires great discipline. Also I wasn't sure what Mazda means by "don't maintain one constant speed for long" - I decided to use the cruise and bump the speed up or down by 3 - 5 MPH every ten minutes or so when on the highway.

I was curious if anyone else followed these guidelines or had other break-in suggestions.

Driving to Pittsburgh tonight and then to Montreal on Friday for the weekend - so will be done with the break-in by Monday!

Thanks!

I followed RB break in most of the time. I did get an oil change at 900 miles just to make myself happy. :D Which tiers did you get?

looks like you got the bridgestone potenza's. nice. congrats on the new car and welcome to the club! i found it impossible to keep the rpm's under 4,000 during break-in...it was hard to do! any plans with modifications?

I'm going to keep it pretty simple. At some point I'd like to consider:

- factory spoiler
- red leather brake handle and shift ****
- paint the black vents behind front wheelwell red and add strakes
- paint the brake calipers red
- add accents around the ventiliation outlets
- add red inserts to wheel center caps

My thinking was to add a few touches of red to the exterior to complement the interior without going overboard.
