Had fun with the NY DMV?!

Finally got my OH title - was driving on temporary tags since I purchased which expired today.

Went to the NY DMV to register and pay that whopping sales tax (ouch).

Had some fun though as the clerk would not believe the cart has 0 cylinders! She was incredulous and had to consult with her supervisor. They had a lengthy discussion and then issued the registation with 0 cylinders!

I know I've seen only a few RX-8's in Buffalo in the last several months (I think literally four that I can recall). I guess not too many registrations.

Too much snow in Buffalo for an 8. I hope it's not your only car.

Why not? The RX8 is AWESOME with the proper tires.

True, but road clearance, Buffalo is 4X4 country in the winter with all the snow coming off the lake. That's one place a 4x4 comes in very handy for on road use.

Not to worry - I have a 2003 GMC Envoy that I drive on rainy days when I don't want the RX-8 out and the RX-8 will go in the garage for the season by the first week of November...

I had the same "fun" with the car insurance folks. "its a 4 cylinder?" Ah... it has 4 spark plugs. "oh then its 4 cylinder." whatever! "how many doors does it have?" Ah ..... four. "ok then it a family car". Ah... it could be a family car. Same stuff. Friends ask the same things too. Its fun to talk about these cars.

I'm sure there's plenty of snow to go around. No one wants to garage their 8 for the winter but the thought of exposing it to the salt and sand they put on the roads makes me cringe. What makes it worse is it's too cold to get a good wash afterwards.

4 doors and 0 cylinders really rocks at my insurance!
6 years newer than my 99' mitsubishi and $2.00/month cheaper :D

Nope - GRT RX8 was available. My avatar is a download from the DMV website confirming my order. Supposed to have the plates in two weeks!

I thought for sure it would be taken and was shocked when the site said it was available...

My NY registration says 2 cylinders, as registered new from the dealer. I had thought that was the standard interpretation by State DMV. Cool you got them to input zero.

And, yeah, the car can be used through the winter with some proper treads.
