Grinding from 3rd to 4th

So evertime Im in 3rd gear and I shift to 4th at over 4500 rpm it makes this grinding noise that doesnt sound too good. I just changed the transmission fluid thinking it would make it better but it didnt really help. Could it be my clutch going bad??
it is an 04 with about 34,000 miles on the clock, what could it be??

Does your clutch engage/disengage with the pedal very close to the floorboard? If so, check the clutch pedal bracket under the dash for cracking/breakage.

sounds like exactly what happened to me. I had grinding in 3-4 shifts over 6000 rpm or so. When I changed fluid, it got even worse, grinding at 4500 rpm. Mazda tore it down with the intent to change out the broken parts, but once it was apart they decided to give me a new unit. I believe the RP maxgear ate the brass synchros.

If you search around for my threads, this thing kicked my *** too. 3rd to 4th was my issue too. Sychros was the issue. Replaced under warranty.

ok so im gettting the same think in my 05 but, its only when i redline it from 3rd to 4th. someone told me stop redlining and im like i dont do it all the time but wtf its made to redline at 9 sooo? how would i explain it to the dealer? i mean what if i tell them its at 5000rpm and they bring it for a ride and it dont do **** cause its not? idk im lost and my warranty is almost up

i am experiencing the same issue.. the quicker i shift, the worse it is. if i shift slow then i experience no problem what so ever. its definatly synchronizer related. perhaps i shouldnt put the trip to the dealer off any longer than need be.

I have an 05 model, and I'm experiencing the same thing. I even have a hard time getting the car into gear on a hot day after 30 minutes of traffic. Is my tranny still covered under factory warranty?
