Well I have the GT package on my auto. Looking back, I would have gotten the Touring Package (I think it's everything in the GT minus the leather seats). I'm not too impressed with the leather so I would have liked to have saved the money on them.

if you drive at night (YEAH) zenons and fogs are great. If you like sounds (YEAH - bose). If you have a nice house ... YEAH (i love the homelink button). If you love to be in control (YEAH - DSC). If you love to see the moon at night (YEAH - moonroof).

ya i know, it's not like those are bad things to get, it just that spending close to 4g..iono if its worth it... :confused:

I personally would not be happy without the GT package. Everything in it is a luxury in a way. I got this car not to race, but to drive everyday, and with the GT package, I feel my $4K extra investment makes my daily drive worthwhile. Also, i live in Utah, and the heated seats will definately be used.

Passed on all of it but the DSC and Xenon/fogs. Hate Bose, don't care for leather, open roof burns my shaved skull, heated seats (not in AR or TX), power seat (why?) are items I can easily live without.

Xenon, DSC, Sunroof and leather interior are all must-have items for me - so my choice was easy. I also love the black/red interior. The price is very fair if you desire the components imho.

If you don't want two or three of the major components, go without GT. GT also has one backdraw btw, electrical seat plus sunroof takes some headspace.

My first 8 was a GT, with no nav....this one is a Touring with Nav...IMHO the new set up is much better. I lost the leather, heated mirrors, and heated seat (all easy enough to give up), and gained the Nav. Got to keep the homelink auto dimming mirror, the bose, the dsc, the xenon, and the moonroof. All for about the same price.

Unless you really want leather, heated seats and mirrors, or you just want to have what others will consider "loaded", go with the touring.

4000 is only like an extra ten dollars a month and totally worth it.

Like the clothe seats, extra headroom minus sunroof, usually like the nonpowered seats because the power ones are too slow but I didn't even check the 8's because the packages are not setup correctly imo. Some of the things I wanted i could only get with things I didn't want and that was my only beef. Personal choice. If you have to have one of the GT's items then you have to get everything that comes with it so it is worth it. If you can do without then of course the extra K's aren't. And looking at it from the perspective of only a few dollars a month is wrong imo also. You sell it you owe more then the extra few dollars a month, you owe thousands more. I personally went with the sport package and only wish I had the Bose vs stock.

I think so too- I don't regret it at all. The moonroof and leather were musts for me, and for driving in the winter the heated seats, heated mirrors, Xenons and DSC/TCS rock. The Bose when combined with a small sub setup to supplement the bass sounds great too. Since I bought this car to keep for a long time, I figured I would regret skimping on some or all of those things down the road.

how is the leather material? Is it good material? Or is that kind of cheap material that makes your back sweat after riding around town in it?

If you can live without leather/heated/power seats, touring is the way to go. Best cloth seats I've seen in any car. Besides those power seats are heavy :p .

It's nicer quality than the leather in my Miata and Explorer, but not as nice as some high-end cars I've been in (Acura, BMW). I just wish that they put leather on the backs of the front seats instead of the high-tech looking plastic cover.

I would have loved the Touring or GT Package, but I'm 6'3" and the moonroof reduces the headroom by 1.5 to 2 inches so I got the Sport Package. I'd say 6'1" is probably the maximum height for an RX-8 with moonroof.

I have the GT package and I fit fine being 6'2", but I do tend lean my seat back more then some I guess. Although when my hair is a bit spiked I can feel it touching the roof, leaving the moonroof slide open takes care of that. The GT package was worth it considering the price I think. But like G8rboy said, I purchased this car to keep for quite a while, didn't want to regret not getting it.

Well I look at it like this. All I wanted from this car was what it was really meant for. So I got the Sport Package. All the essentials. DSC, TCS for the rain. Xenon headlights and foglights. 6 speed manual with LSD, and 18" wheels.

I drive a sports car not a luxury car. I don't need leather, home link, nav, or a moonroof. The moon roof adds too much weight and disturbs the lines of the roof anyways.

For me, the GT is a must. I wanted sunroof (coming from a miata). Luckily, I'm not tall enough to bang my head against the top. The electric seats has one advantage over manual seats: you can adjust them as you drive until you get to a confortable position. I can never find a comfortable position until I *start* driving. I sometimes put my baby in a reat facing baby seat behind me, so I end up adjusting my seat all the time.
The Xenons are awesome! The auto dimming rear mirrors are wonderful in the land of SUVs. The leather is better than the leather in the Acura MDX but is not as good as the one in the RX330. The only thing I don't seem to have a use for are the heated seats. I think I got a damn good deal on a luxury car :-)

It depends on if you value sunroof, bose, homelink mirror, heated seats. I wouldn't get the GT package if you are only doing so for the leather, get the touring or sport package and then put in aftermarket leather--it is of better quality anyway and cost about $1200-$1400. That's what I did--I am not a fan of Bose sound systems-mainly because when the components go out you have a debacle on your hands. I also don't care about heated or powered seats. The GT leather is not as supple as aftermarket leather-and the aftermarket leather does not have the plastic seat backs (plus or minus for some).

It really depends on how much you prefer leather seats over cloth. I got it and love it!

I got GT for the leather seats. I didn't want the moonroof.

No regrets here.

Seriously, I think $3900 is a comparative bargain for what you get. The only option in the GT package that I didn't particluarly car one way or another for is the heated mirrors; I wanted everything else. Though in retrospect I don't think the Bose system is all that great -- AudioPilot is a big steaming pile of crap.
