A few questions if you dont mind. Does it display track info? Do the steering wheel controls work? If yes to both, how much, and where did you get it?
Thanks for the info

Well, it will say what song it is numberwise, like the CDs will. You plug the iPod into the cord and then push CD on the stereo until it changes to "EX" on the screen, which means iPod (external output device). It then plays it as if it is a CD. All the steering wheel controls work to advance songs and control volume, like it does for CDs.
I got it installed at my dealership for $200 total. My invoice/receipt said it was $81 for CPM (install time) and then $119 for the hardware, which was a $30 discount, since it is supposed to cost $149 normally (I get a discount from the dealership on my stuff). This was my birthday present from my mom.
It is a very basic operation, but has no capability to display song titles or anything. Just tracks like as if it were a CD.
Edit: Oh yeah, and when it's plugged in my iPod screen displays the Mazda logo.

Hey Bunny. I installed mine on the weekend.
The menu thing is cool but takes a while to figure out. Even when you figure it out you kinda need a cheat sheet unless you aren't going to do anything but run party mix.
Background:
If you want to select a menu you hold down the cd change button (up or down) for one second or more. The number scrolls but you ignore that. When you release the button the time counter shows the menu number for a second or so before the next song starts counting.
The cd change button also is used to change the list number within the menu you selected. The list is changed if you press the button for less than one second. The only issue here is if you hit the cd button twice in one second it will change the menu instead of the list so you have to change lists slowly.
The menu numbers are documented in the manual and the list in each menu is selected in the order programmed on your IPOD.

I only had about 10 minutes to attempt to do anything with it beyond plugging it in and seeing the basic function of it (picked my car up, drove to work, had a few minutes to kill in the parking lot). I have a pink iPod Mini from a few years ago, so not a ton in the way of features or anything. I haven't even created playlists for it. LOL When I listen to it I generally just have it in shuffle, so to do that all I have to do is hit RDM on the stereo and it shuffles the list for me.

Hmm.. I was too lazy to install that so I just went with an iPod FM transmitter.. Mines pretty good btw, for those of us who don't want to really install anything. It's called 'Monster iCarPlay' has autoscan and everything.. lol.. It goes for $100. Worth it.
Yeh, back to your adapter.. So uhh.. Cool..

But man, $200 for hardware and installation on an OEM AUX unit is a sweet deal. I'm having my oil changed on Monday, maybe I'll have them add a little somethin'-somethin' while it's there!

does the ipod adaptor charge your ipod as well? like does it plug into the bottom of your ipod and charge it as well? or does it require your ipod to have battery life? cuz mines been dead for about 5 months now cuz i'm too lazy to actually carry it to class and stuff. Also can you play like video's and have just the sound come out and have your passenger watch it? if it does it sounds awesome cuz i do alot of hour+ long trips and my passengers usually get bored so just a few more questions to bug you guys with :-p

Yes
no
No, the screen is blank. I think that the video IPOD has an adapter with a video out but you'd need a screen.
The sound quality is great!

The sound quality is mediocre but you can only get so much quality out of an FM transmitter, period.

I would of bought one of these by now but I don't think I'd be able to put up with the complicated playlist functions every day. I'd would of gone with the audiolink a long time ago as well but I'm not paying $100 for a firmware upgrade. And my FM transmittor's sound quality is just disgusting.
