I know, your all probably tired of the me too's, but besides what everybody knows (tity gray car with spoiler), I was cruising around with my buddies right now, just enjoying it, talking smack, having fun seeing the people in other cars taking a second or third look, and awnsering questions in the mall parking lot when we stopped for dinner (a rotary fan was lookign at it when we got out to leave). So we are cruisng down the street and a car in front of me suddenly hits the breaks and so do I. ABS does it's thing (roads where wet) and no sweat. Look in my rear view mirror and see a car coming up very fast. THink to myself "PLEASE dont hit me! my car is less than 10 hours in my hands!" and BAM! right in the rear.

So I pull over and me and my 3 buddies get out. All large fellows BTW, and I see this skinny kid and his buddy get out of the other car and come walking over. I go behind the car to cry, and was flabergasted. Not a single scratch! I dont know how the hell he hit me, or what the rear end of this car is amde of, but not a single mark! I coudlnt beleive it! Kid tells me how he and his buddy where arguing over wether the car was the new RX-8 when he saw me brake and couldnt stop in time. he was really apologetic and was praying all would be OK since it was his mom's car. So we talk about the car for a bit, and off we all go.

SO my heart got another workout from that experience, but my baby is fine and all is well in the world.

For interest, kid told me he was still doing about 20 when he hit me. Thats one solid rear end!

Of course, how he's gonna explain the front of his moms car is anybody's guess :D

Wow, you're so lucky that your 8 didn't get damaged. I got a very vivid flashback when I read this part, it's exactly what happened to me some years ago. The sad part is that my first-gen RX-7 got totalled it my accident, "sandwished" between a pickup truck and a sedan.

That's good news in a way. My girlfriend drives a '95 Mercury Cougar XR7 and was rear-ended in a very similar fashion. Her rear bumper was smashed in and the trunk was unshuttable until it was fixed. Seeing as you didn't get a single scratch makes me say "heh, and all these people talk about the cheap looking rear..."

 

Tell me about it! Right there I dont have any doubts about the robustness of this car AT ALL :D
