Goodbye....
So I'll start out by saying its been fun guys! I haven't been very active lately but figured I'd post and say goodbye. Last weekend I was driving near Sacramento and ended up hydroplaning in some heavy rain. I ended up hitting the center barrier, spinning then pulling over to the side of the road. Luckily no one on the freeway hit me! No frame damage on my baby, but both bumpers and the control arms/tie rod on my drivers side suspension were destroyed. Insurance just called me to tell me they're considering it a total loss. Here are some pics of her as the sun started to come out... Shes been fun and I'm going to miss her.

The irony of ironies was I was on my way to buy a Plug in Prius to be a daily driver. Bought the Prius, but losing my fun car... Not sure if I'm going to buy anything else soon to replace my 8. If I do might go with an E46 M3.
Oh for anyone who is wondering, not parting the car out as a whole. Insurance is taking her away, but I am parting out all my aftermarket goodies... check the FS thread if you're interested.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Glad you're ok. I recently totaled my 04....Luckily I found a 40th Anniversary .

Man that terrible to see your 8 all smashed up. I've hydroplaned many times on the freeway (mainly 101 and 405) but always made it. Now I'm not too sure lol's. Luckily, I get to use my family's SUV outlander. Good luck with everything and glad to see that you're okay from the whole incident. I've been in prius' before and they are completely different and dull from the Rx8 but hope you get the M3 soon

That is a total loss even with the aftermarket parts on her?!
I am sorry man :/
I always thought if you could provide how much you had spent on the aftermarket parts and how much it would up the resale that they usually do not total it out.
I am so sorry to hear what had happened. :/

Thanks for all the well wishes guys. The damage is easily over 50%... sadly our cars haven't held their value as well as I would have liked. A new Mazda rear bumper painted costs close to $1200 out here. Add in a new front bumper, head light, turn signal, under body tray, bumper grill, control arms, tie rod.... it all adds up quick! Hopefully I'll be able to jump back into something fun soon...
